That last number should read three, but Joe Root (yes, Joe Root!) spills the final ball of the over at long-on. Usually the safest pair of hands but after moving in to meet the chip by Maharoof he somehow lets it drop from his hands to the turf.

Woakes misjudges his length to Maharoof, who gets inside a bouncer and hooks down to fine leg for four. Other than this, it is a good over.

"Good bit of bowling from Plunkett. Missed the hole, and it was just short of a yorker. A leading edge, and Chris Woakes just had to move a few yards to take the catch. But it was a good innings from Mathews."

"Mathews is running out of time to unload, with five overs to go. It was working perfectly when he was batting with Prasanna. England will be happy with this. Anything less than 300 you fancy your chances."

Chris Woakes is going to see England home from one end. He returns in style, going for just the five singles. Mathews has a big swing at his last ball but swipes inside it.

"I'm thinking, with five overs to go, if Mathews has a worldie they can get up to 300. In an ideal world England will restrict them to below 270."

That 300 total is slipping away from Sri Lanka. You can thank England's bowlers for that. David Willey starves the tourists of any further boundaries. They have to go at 10s now and throwing the bat is liable to bring wickets. All on Angelo.
