  1. SL 133-4published at 28 overs

Prasanna gets a helping hand to get his innings up and running. He firstly edges a Moeen ball past Buttler for four and then swipes the next ball to deep midwicket, which Woakes comes round to field but lets through his legs. First real errors in the field from the home side, who have been bang on it so far.

"I'd say this is definitely not out from my gut instinct. He went for a square drive and it just sort of bobbed up. This would have hurt his foot and he would be limping."

  3. SL 125-4published at 27 overs

Another good Rashid over. Just three runs off it. England continue to turn the screw.

However, with Mathews at the crease, Sri Lanka remain a threat. Here is a reminder of what he can do...

Nah, it hit the ground. Easy one to clear up. We continue...

  5. SL 123-4published at 26.3 overs

Rashid and Buttler think they have Mathews. It'd be a bizarre dismissal if it is. They think he's hit it into his own foot, looping it up for Buttler to catch. Let's see what the review shows...

  6. SL 122-4published at 26 overs

The new man is Seekkuge Prasanna, who is a leg-spinner not usually known for his batting. Saying that, he did score 95 off 46 balls against Ireland a few days ago. He hit nine sixes in that innings. England have been warned. A good over from Moeen - two runs and a wicket. Job done.

"It was an appalling shot, a disgraceful shot all round, really. England have been brilliant - by just building the pressure they've forced the wicket."

    Chandimal c Woakes b Moeen 37 (120-4)

Cheers Steph. And cheers Moeen! You've made me look like a real good luck charm. Chandimal looks to sweep hard to Moeen and top-edges to Woakes at fine leg. A key partnership is broken. England in charge. What's the opposite of commentator's curse?

  9. SL 120-3published at 25 overs

Rashid fizzes catches from hand to hand, tip-toeing in then throwing his hands high to deliver the ball. Still Sri Lanka knock it around, but a rank long hop from Rashid has to be dealt with by Mathews. Half of the innings done. Here's Phil Dawkes...

"The dimensions on this ground are a bit funny. The outfield is so quick, once the ball is past the circle, it's tough as a bowler and a captain to defend."

  11. SL 114-3 (Chandimal 36, Mathews 26)published at 24 overs

Familiar mid-innings stuff. Find the gap, take one. Sri Lanka probably the happier side, England starting to need a wicket. Where's it coming from? Persist with spin, or risk greater pace on the ball? Moeen still twirling, more singles than a Star Trek convention.

"Tammy Beaumont brings up her maiden ODI half-century off 57 balls - having hit eight fours - to warm applause from the small crowd at Grace Road.

"The opener has continued her good form from the World Twenty20 in India this year, sharing an unbroken half-century partnership with captain Heather Knight as the hosts move on to 98-2, chasing 166 to beat Pakistan."

Tip-and-run stuff from Sri Lanka. Nudge, nurdle, poke the ball into the gaps, look for the singles. Can they resist a belt at Adil Rashid. So far, they can. Pace off looks the way to go for England. Maybe Joe Root to have a little trundle?

Theo Bowyer: 300 is a must for Sri Lanka... All the pressure on Chandimal or Mathews making a ton though.

  15. SL 106-3 (partnership 50)published at 22 overs

Angelo Mathews has changed his bat, perhaps choosing willow that makes it easier to reverse sweep. A flourish sees Moeen taken behind point for four, with the big skipper then showing nice touch to dab on the leg side. Nicely poised at TB, Sri Lanka edging back into it. Lovely day, too. Warm, touch of cloud, but no threat of rain.

Dan, that is quite outstanding. You have set the challenge for everyone else. If you can produce a better drawing of cricketing action, then let's see it. It doesn't have to be from today. Even if you can't do better, send me one anyway. Stick figures acceptable. In fact, can you produce a drawing so good, we know what it is without you telling us?

Spin from both ends now, Moeen Ali on to twirl some offies down. Four men on the off side, five on the leg, the breeze high enough to ruffle both Moeen's shirt and his magnificent beard. Nice start from Moeen, off-stump line, quite flat, nothing for the Lankans to work with.

"What spin there is, Adil Rashid is finding it. He's not the most confident guy. He needs to settle in, he needs to find that rhythm early on in his spell, and he's done that here."
