    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

"The World Cup and the Champions Trophy make a huge amount of money, but they tinker with 50-over cricket every couple of years. T20 makes a lot of money. Yet, Test cricket is losing money and it can't sustain itself, but they never do anything with it to make it more prominent and relevant to the new fans.

Martin: "Went down on one knee to sweep the ball past square leg - only for the ball to spin off the end of the bat and up into my face, breaking my nose and my two front teeth. After a trip to casualty, arrived home with two black eyes and the contents of my nose and a lot of blood down my chest. I walked through the door to be greeted by my mother screaming: 'Look at the state of that clean sweater'."

    Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

"It'll be like county cricket in a sense that, for example, you go to Leeds and there's an inch of grass because England need to win."

  5. The future of international cricketpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

    Ed Smith
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I wonder if you need to incentivise Test cricket - if you only played eight or nine in a year, rather than 17, it would mean more."

  6. The future of international cricketpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

"All these T20 leagues around the world are nicking time from the Future Tours Programme."

Vic Marks: "But the Big Bash has managed to be a success, functioning alongside the Australian international fixtures - and without having all the biggest players in the world, unlike the IPL."

  7. The future of international cricketpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

    Ed Smith
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I wrote after the 2015 Ashes that Test cricket was changing as teams were winning at home but not away. Nathan Leamon, the England statistician, sent me the stats - teams are actually winning away more, but they're also losing away more. It's the draws that are decreasing."

  8. The future of international cricketpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

"The Test match game now needs something. I'd have four-day Tests, two divisions played over four years, with scope to still play iconic series like the Ashes or India-Pakistan. I'd have five in the top division and seven in the second division, bringing in two new teams like Ireland and Afghanistan. But the product has to be spot on - there are too many Tests where we know what the result is going to be because it's a mismatch."

    Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

"In the early 2000s, England were criticised because they put too much emphasis on Test cricket. Now, it does well in England, but struggles around the world. I think a Test Championship is worth having a go."

"I don't know what Angelo Mathews has said to his players, maybe he's said the ball is wet or something. But the batting team, Root and Roy were saying to each other 'come on let's just carry on'."

  15. Bristolian weather woepublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

There will be frustration from the locals - as the only previous ODI on this ground since 2010 (before today) was a game against India in 2014. That one was abandoned without a ball bowled because of the weather.

Theo Bowyer: Very noble from Hales to throw away his wicket in order to give Root some time in the middle to regain his form.
