  1. England's ODI renaissancepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

TMS are looking back at Alastair Cook's removal as ODI captain just before the 2015 World Cup.

"There's nothing much bigger than changing your captain on the eve of a major tournament. It was a very different approach when Eoin Morgan took over - we've got a different coach now and Morgy has had time to bed in as captain. Straight after the World Cup, we had a good chat and addressed where we went wrong. Peter Moores was part of that process, but he got sacked and Paul Farbrace took over temporarily.

"As you can see from the way the boys are playing now, there are no boundaries, they're regularly scoring more than 300. It's not out-and-out slogging, there's thinking behind it too."

Steven Finn, who I watched bowl a rather good final over in a T20 at Lord's on Thursday night (though I didn't say that at the time to spare the blushes of the Somerset fans I was sitting with), is having a bowl on one of the outer Bristol wickets.

But the central wicket, and most of the square, are still fully covered as the ground staff wait for the rain to stop.

    Graeme Swann
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

"I remember how England were playing ODI cricket under Alastair Cook and were so under-prepared going to Australia - I'd said we needed players like Alex Hales, Jason Roy, James Vince and James Taylor. I told Cook that he, Ian Bell and Gary Ballance shouldn't be playing one-day cricket.

"I had a lot of time for Peter Moores but he was blinkered as a coach. Andrew Strauss did a hell of a job when he came in and separated Test and limited-overs cricket. The ODI team is now riddled with positive thinkers and it looks a very good unit."

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It is the final women's ODI tomorrow at Taunton between England and Pakistan, which will be on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra and the BBC Sport website, with England having won the first two matches easily.

Somerset and England bowler Anya Shrubsole said: "It's always nice to play on your home ground, I spent many a year down here at the academy, it was huge in terms of getting me to where I am now."

The covers are on at Bristol, protecting the wicket and the square, the rain is falling steadily so England may not be able to start their reply on time.

How much has the recent success of other teams in Bristol - both football teams and the rugby team promoted in the last two seasons, and a Lord's final win last year - affected you?

Gloucestershire chief executive Will Brown on TMS: "There's excitement about sport in Bristol at the moment. There's a vast difference between season-ticket mentality of a football or rugby club, and the members' mentality of a cricket club. Bristol Sport [who own Bristol City, Bristol Rugby Club & the basketball and netball teams] are a commercial organisation but whether we work together or not, we're getting noticed at city council level."

Is it the same demographic of people who come to international matches and domestic games?

Gloucestershire chief executive Will Brown on TMS: "We know we've got a similar sort of person coming to T20 and ODIs, but there's not much crossover - people appear to choose one or the other. But we've got 10 international matches here, including England v Ireland on 5 May, which will be the first time they've played Ireland on English soil."

Gloucestershire chief executive Will Brown on TMS: "Bristol likes to be a bit alternative. We've always had good attendances for international cricket here, but there are other distractions in a city the size of Bristol, like concerts down at the harbourside - we're competing with other entertainment venues. We had 11,000 here for T20 against Somerset."

Will you be hosting England games during next summer's Women's World Cup?

Gloucestershire chief executive Will Brown on TMS: "I hope we're going to have England here. There are 31 games, we'll have eight of those, it's for other people to decide but I'd be very disappointed if we didn't have England."

"We haven't seem many glorious shots hard work for Sri Lanka, mainly through their own doing. This is the sort of total the old Gloucestershire side would defend here at Bristol but I'm not sure Sri Lanka will be able to."

  18. SL 248-9published at 50 overs

Lakmal shapes up for a ramp shot but can't connect as Willey holds his line just outside off stump, and the last ball of the innings is carted to long-off where they come back for two. England will need 249 to take a 2-0 lead in the series with two matches to go.

  19. SL 246-9published at 49.4 overs

Every run is precious for Sri Lanka here. Lakmal drills a single to long-on, Pradeep swipes a full toss to extra cover and they scamper another.
