Andrew Brown, Crieff: "Hi I'm a 49-year-old England fan, born in Maryhill in Glasgow. Fell in love with cricket as a child watching Test matches on BBC2 in the 70's. Play club cricket in Scotland but never been to an England match...until today. I'm in the crowd with my cousin and his five-year-old son. Come on England!"

No pressure England, just make sure it's a winning debut for Andrew and his friends!

England's Jason Roy on Sky Sports: "It's been amazing to feel that confidence in my top hand. People say in one-day cricket you need your bottom hand, but the top hand is just as important.

On his innings of 112 not out at Edgbaston: "I know what a bad feeling it is when you get 40 and get out. I didn't want to just get 70 and 80. I wanted to kick on.

"There are some small boundaries here in Bristol and it's a good pitch. Let's hope it's a good one."

Your views on the points-based Super Series, in which England already hold an unassailable lead.

Kean Martin: Think superseries has been a non event. A league/points system for Test cricket to re-engage perhaps though? Still the best form.

Mark Savile: This Super Series has been pointless (bad pun intended)

Former England opening batsman Tim Robinson and former Australia seamer Paul Reifel are the umpires for today's match, with Bruce Oxenford the TV umpire. Not sure if Bruce brings his disc cutting protector to the TV lounge.

Howard Blick: "Jeans, shorts or waterproofs, looks like a decent day on Bristol until 5-ish. So excited to watch England today."

  8. Captain's viewpublished at 10:05 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews: "I was going to bowl first as well but no harm in batting first. We've got one change, Shanaka in for Randiv. Chandimal is having a fitness test but is good to go as a batter. We don't know if I will be fit to bowl yet."

Bit of uncertainty in the Sri Lanka dressing room then? Plus they have just lost by 10 wickets. So which way is it going to go today?

  9. Captain's viewpublished at 10:04 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

England captain Eoin Morgan: "They've had a lot of rain down here. It's a small ground so we go on the principle of see what it does to start with.

"We have one change. Moeen Ali misses out and Chris Jordan comes in.

"We're always striving to improve game on game. Our fielding has come on. We're trying to strive to not just improve but to also put pressure on the opposition. That’s one of our big mantras."

  10. England win toss and bowlpublished at 10:02 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

The stately figure of Australian match referee David Boon declares that Sri Lanka have called incorrectly and Eoin Morgan opts to bowl first in the overcast conditions. England bring in Chris Jordan for Moeen Ali.

The pitch looks a belter, a biscuit-coloured surface on which the batsmen will be hoping to feast, the outfield is manicured, with large straight stripes vertically and horizontally a la Lord's - although no turf seems quite like that Lord's outfield - an expectant crowd is assembling and we are all set for the toss.

  13. A series for all seasonspublished at 09:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

So what else are we we going to have in this series? We have had a six off the final ball to salvage a tie for England, then a record partnership in a 10-wicket win secure in barely 34 overs.

While Sri Lanka cannot win the inaugural points-based Super Series, with England holding a 13-3 lead and only eight points available for the four remaining matches this summer, they can retain the ODI series, having won their last two 50-over series against England.

What are your thoughts on the Super Series? It has been a bit of a non-event hasn't it? Will people always break series down individually or is there a future for the point-based idea across all three formats?

  14. Weatherpublished at 09:53 British Summer Time 26 June 2016

I say warm, I was worried the weather might be a factor but at the moment it appears dry in Bristol, with some watery sunshine seeking to emerge from the overcast skyline. The weather forecast suggests a dry start but we might need a Roy & Hales-style pulsating partnership to get things done before the rain is predicted to arrive in earnest around 18:00 BST. Plus I have a long drive home, so it's in everyone's interests.
