  1. SL 174-7 (target 325)published at 36 overs

Sri Lanka's required run-rate has flown up past 10 an over. It continues to climb as Woakes' return continues England's stranglehold on matters. What is the Sri Lania strategy here? Get to 40 overs seven down and then try to desperately smash whatever is needed?

  2. SL 172-7published at 35 overs

Suranga Lakmal is the new man and gets off the mark in awkward fashion, fending off a short ball from Plunkett.

"That was Plunkett's 10th wicket of the series. He has taken three wickets nine times in ODI cricket, but he has never taken four."

"Prasanna hit it well and hit down almost. It was dipping, and he's almost taken on his knees. He's got a good pair of hands."

    Prasanna c Willey b Plunkett 5 (SL 170-7)

Great catch! Plunkett - who Chandimal has just taken for six and four - digs one in short to Prasanna, who doesn't get hold of it and sends it flying towards fine leg. david Willey still has plenty to do with a forward dive to claim a top snare. Plunkett owes his Yorkshire team-mate a beer for that one.

This has got absolutely nothing to do with today's game, but it's brilliant so you need to see it.

  8. SL 159-6 (target 325)published at 34 overs

Rashid's work here is done. Another fine 10 from the Yorkshire leggie. Two wickets and just 41 runs conceded. Lovely stuff.

"What would have been good for the series is if Plunkett hadn't whacked that last ball for six in that first match."

  10. SL 158-6published at 33 overs

Jordan is pulled and Plunkett returns but the game continues to tiptoe meekly onwards.

"The game has gone a little limp in the last 10 minutes."

  12. SL 154-6published at 32 overs

This is all a bit flat now. Sri Lanka probably can't win but are hanging on in there, losing ground with each passing over. Rashid goes for three more.

Here is how Shanaka met his doom...

"Prasanna has nine single-figure scores in his last 11 one-day innings."

  14. SL 151-6 (target 325)published at 31 overs

The tourists are operating in singles when they desperately need boundaries. Jordan thinks he has Chandimal lbw and runs backwards all the way down the track as he implores the umpire to raise his finger. Replays show it was umpire's call - just clipping the top of leg. In the new rules that may well have been out.

"Is all this talk of run rates notional? Is it all over?"

  17. SL 149-6published at 30 overs

Chandimal is the last batsman standing. He takes Rashid for three in a rapidly bowled over. 20 overs left, 176 needed at 8.80 an over. I know Sam Querrey and Wales have recently shown that sport is an unpredictable beast, but surely Sri Lanka can't do this?

There has just been a huge cheer in the office. For a second I thought I'd missed another wicket. Nope, turns out Novak Djokovic has just been dumped out of Wimbledon.

Seekuge Prasanna is in. He is capable of quick-fire destruction but has gone cheaply in the last couple of matches. He tends to be in for a good time, not a long time.

Jordan continues with his radar very much switched off. Six off the over.

"If Adil Rashid has seen him coming, it's a beautiful piece of bowling. Without a shadow of doubt, it's the most satisfying piece of bowling for a spinner. The stumping is the whole reason I took up spin bowling. It's a bit like the Artful Dodger picking a pocket."
