"Lovely piece of leg-spin bowling. A real vicious turning leg-spinner."

Shanaka st Buttler b Rashid 22 (SL 140-5)

I was just going to suggest that Sri Lanka remain in the game so long as they don't lose another wicket anytime soon. Scratch that. Rashid strikes again, spinning one past the outside edge of the advancing Shanaka to leave the batsman stranded as Buttler whisks off the bails.

  3. SL 138-5published at 27 overs

Jordan starts either too far one side, too far the other, too full or too short. Basically, he can't find any consistency. He improves as the over goes on, though, and concedes just four.

Alan Baird: At least Tharanga can legitimately purchase a Primary Club tie now.

Russell Loughland: Chris Jordan - catches well, can't match change with bowling, bats badly.

  5. SL 134-5 (target 325)published at 26 overs

Shanaka is trying to stage a counter-attack. He takes a step or two and fires Rashid's first ball high and into the stand behind the bowler. It is the only significant action of the over.

    Thanks Justin.

Well, England are firmly in control now, thanks to these two balls...

Plunkett, his work done for now after removing Gunathilaka for 48, is replaced by Jordan. Leggy from Jordan as Dasun Shanaka glances for four and collects another couple in front of square. If England weren't in such a strong position, Jordan's bowling could be seen as a weak link. Here's Phil Dawkes to talk you through the remainder of this match.

England's series against Pakistan will be upon us quickly, but premier bowler James Anderson is currently rated doubtful for the opening Test with a shoulder injury.

In between his Wimbledon duties today, the Lancastrian told BBC Sport: "It’s a bit of an unusual injury. The physios say they’ve not seen it before.

"I’m rehabbing well. I will be at Nottinghamshire watching Lancashire take on Stuart Broad's team. I’m still positive I can be fit for that first Test."

  9. SL 119-5 (target 325)published at 24 overs

England's batsmen may have hogged the headlines in this series, but Adil Rashid has been a key figure of what is shaping up to be a resounding 3-0 win. Figures of 0-36, 2-34, 0-60 and 2-57 were neat enough - even before you throw in his analysis today, which currently reads 5-0-24-1. He's grown into a fine one-day player for England.

"This game is only the seventh time all of England's top six have all scored 20 or more in an ODI."

  11. SL 114-5 (target 325)published at 23 overs

Spin and guile at one end, pace and power at the other. Plunkett pounds in, Chandimal drives on the up back past him for four. A fine response from the man upon whom so much rests now for Sri Lanka.

    Rashid 4-0-19-1

England have two wickets in three balls, Rashid has a spring in his step and Sri Lanka are in the mire. Dasun Shanaka joins Dinesh Chandimal at the crease. All the best, chaps...

  15. wicket

    Tharanga b Rashid 0 (SL 106-5)

The stuff of dreams for the leggie. Tossed up to the new man, tempts left-handed Tharanga into a drive, and finds enough turn to beat the bat and bowl him through the gate. That made a lovely sound as it hit off stump. Music to Rashid's ears.

    Mathews b Plunkett 13 (SL 105-4)

What a response from the big man! Full, straight, a hint of inside edge and stumps splattered. Mathews goes for 13 and Sri Lanka are well and truly up against it.

  18. SL 105-3published at 20.5 overs

Take that! There was some feeling in that from Mathews, who swats Plunkett - England's quickest and most fearsome fast bowler - back past the bowlers head for four.

There's been plenty of short stuff from Rashid in this spell. He's got away with it so far, Mathews managing only one to deep mid-wicket from a rank long hop. The boundary riders are being kept busy by England's leg-spinner. Better to finish the over. Sri Lanka need 227 off 30 overs. England's grip tightening.
