"He didn't give a dive. He dawdled. In T20 cricket you know you have to get up and down. It was a good delivery from Mills too - a slower ball."
Buttler hits 73* off 49 balls as opener
Morgan 47* off 39 - dropped on 8 & 19
Morgan bats with dislocated finger
Dawson 3-27 on debut, Jordan 3-29

Rambukwella run out 19 (SL 106-6)
Oh, Ramith, have a dive son! Rambukwella steers a ball from the returning Tymal Mills to Vince at backward point and sets off but is a yard or two short when the fielder direct hits at the non-strikers. A bizarre innings comes to an end.
Rashid keeps Sri Lanka in check after the early boundaries. The tourists are just starting to steady the ship after it looked like they were sinking without trace.

"Eventually he had to connect and, when he did, it went a long way."
Ahem. I take it back. Maybe it is the bat. He connects and fires Rashid down the ground and into the stand and then swipes and mistimed effort to leg for four. I still think he's closing his eyes.
Somehow, two England players - Vince and Roy - manage to prevent a Rambukwella wipe from crossing the line. They collide near the rope, with the ball bouncing back off one of their backs. Am I at the circus? Rambukwella decides he doesn't like his bat and wants it changed. Yeah, that's the problem Ramith, the bat. Definitely not the eyes-skyward, uncoordinated swings you keep trying.

"Adil Rashid has bowled 59 overs in T20 internationals - that's his first maiden."

Ian Funnell: With Bairstow and Billings in the side, surely the first time England have played 3 wicketkeepers.
Ramith Rambukwella joins the chaos. It doesn't look like things are going to get any saner with him at the crease. He swings and prods and pokes and looks thoroughly useless to Rashid. Whatever that was, it was not pretty. A maiden for the spinner. Take a bow.

Grant Kennett: Do they play the run-out rule in Sri Lanka...?!
Levi Crisp: Sri Lanka's embarrassing batting is going to ruin this match then.
Mark Dexter: Looks like Sri Lanka are booked on the 21.00 flight home from Southampton airport.
"Liam Dawson is the fifth England bowler to take three wickets on T20 international debut after Mark Wood, David Willey, Jon Lewis and Darren Gough."
That over has swung this game firmly in England's favour. Dawson is having a belter of a debut.

"I can barely believe my eyes. What are they doing?"

"That's a kamikaze second run. It was a good pick up and throw from Roy, low and hard, easy for Buttler to gather and take the stumps."
Shanaka run out 1 (SL 82-5)
What is Shanaka doing?! He's gifted England his wicket with an attempted second from a lofted shot to cover, which Jason Roy recovers and throws in to Buttler to run out the batsman by miles. What an utter mess.

"We saw a few of those earlier from the Pakistan ladies. It was a good old hoik. You could your back out doing that. Dawson seems to know the right pace to bowl and England are in control."
Mathews b Dawson 11 (SL 81-4)
Dawson is having a ball here. Mathews' shot is very, very ugly - an attempted heave to the leg side. He misses and the spinner hits. The Hampshire lad has three on his debut on home turf. That'll do.

Dave Wood: Been watching Dawson for years at Hampshire. Deserves his chance at international level. Special talent.
Rashid appeals again. He beats Chandimal's attempted slog and Jos Buttler ships off the bails. The umpire goes upstairs but the batsman's boot was firmly planted in the crease. Not out.
Close. New man Dinesh Chandimal looks to reverse slap Adil Rashid's first ball and is struck on the pads, provoking a leaping appeal from the bowler. I can only think that was turning too much.
