  1. That's all folks...published at 21:53 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

That is all from me. A fine end to a fine super series for England. OK, so Sri Lanka were under strength and clearly in transition, but the home side did what they had to do and do it very, very well.

We'll be back again soon for the upcoming Test and limited-overs games with Pakistan, starting with the first Test at Lord's next Thursday.

Buttler's brilliance and Morgan's maturity saw England home...

  3. England's chasepublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

It wasn't all plain sailing for England during the chase. At one stage they were 1-1 and James Vince's bizarre dismissal had them worried for a bit...

  4. 'I tried to play strong shots'published at 21:49 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

England's Jos Buttler on being promoted to open, on Sky Sports: "I really enjoyed it - and delighted to take the opportunity. I tried to play strong shots. There's a different rhythm to batting - you have to face a few more dot balls."

On debutant Tymal Mills, who conceded only 22 runs in four overs: "A lot of people were very excited to see how he goes. He bowled brilliantly. For a guy who's just playing the short form, he's got some great skills and he's very exciting."

  5. 'I found some fluency'published at 21:46 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

More from England captain Eoin Morgan on Sky Sports: "Adil Rashid has been outstanding in white-ball cricket this year. Having someone who turns the ball both ways gives you a wicket-taking threat throughout the innings.

"Alex Hales is sitting on a beach in Ibiza at the moment - I'm not sure he cares!

"I found some fluency, which is nice. I had my finger put back in and an injection. I'll have a scan tomorrow."

  7. Morgan impressed by Mills and Dawsonpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

England captain Eoin Morgan on Sky Sports: "Apart from the first game in the one-day series, everything has got better game on game.

"Tonight, our fielding peaked, we were hitting the stumps for fun. We've spoken about fielding - it's the one thing in cricket you can control. We have athletes in the field and we must use those as much as we can.

"Liam Dawson was fantastic and Tymal Mills showed what he can do.

"Tymal has made a miraculous effort to be bowling four overs in a T20. It's important we manage that and keep him injury free."

  8. 'I'll bat wherever the team wants me'published at 21:43 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

England's Jos Buttler on opening the batting: "I'll bat wherever the team wants me to bat. It's something I really want to develop - the longer I can bat, the more runs I can get."

On winning a Test recall: "I've had a taste of Test cricket. Everyone wants to be a part of that. But I'm just playing every game as it comes. I just want to keep scoring runs."

  10. 'Not as quick as usual'published at 21:42 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

England's Jos Buttler, who made 73 not out off 49 balls, on Test Match Special: "There have been really high scores here before. Probably with the weather, it wasn't quite as quick as it usually is. It was good that we bowled first and see how the wicket played. Liam Dawson was fantastic on his debut."

  11. 'We weren't consistent enough'published at 21:42 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews, speaking on Sky Sports: "140 was average total on that wicket. It was stopping and turning but it was not enough.

"We looked for too many runs too early. We needed to get twos and threes but we went for big shots and lost wickets.

"We had to take wickets and got a couple but Eoin's catch was crucial and I dropped it. We let him off the hook a couple of times and couldn't get into it then.

"A win in the first ODI would have been a big boost but we couldn't get over the line. England didn't give us a chance afterwards.

"We showed fight in bits and pieces. We were not consistent enough. That is something we need to work on. There are positives. Unfortunately, we didn't have the bowling to put pressure on."

"The bowler who was the most exciting was Tymal Mills. He has genuine pace. He went wicketless but we saw the pace.

"It's the change-up ball - the slower ball - that makes him stand out for me. To go from 90mph down to 70 without any change in action is a real skill. And he's got the control."

"I really enjoyed this win. It was quite clinical. The bowling was really tight. Mills came in and bowled to his plans, and Dawson getting three wickets on debut. Buttler just finds these conditions ridiculously easy. There's a depth to England in the white-ball format."

  16. Plenty of positivespublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

That is England's 14th win in their last 16 T20 matches. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Today was full of positives - Jos Buttler is brilliant (we all knew that), Eoin Morgan scored some much-needed runs, Chris Jordan further enhanced his death bowling prowess and Tymal Mills and Liam Dawson grew England's T20 bowling pool.
