  1. "Heavy rain" at Bristolpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Sussex 242-5 v Gloucestershire 83-1 (7.3 overs)

BBC Sussex reporter Adrian Harms has just tweeted this picture of the conditions at Bristol, where Gloucestershire are one run behind their Duckworth-Lewis target of 84 after 7.3 overs against Sussex.

You'd have to say the prospects of any further play look slim at the moment.

  2. Postpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Nottinghamshire 179-7 v Birmingham 70-1 (9 overs)

Sam Hain is enjoying quite the T20 Blast debut for Birmingham Bears, with his 44 runs from 29 balls putting his team in the driving seat.

Notts desperately need a wicket, and Greg Smith hasn't helped matters by dropping Will Porterfield off the bowling of Samit Patel.

In fairness to Smith, the ball came at him very quickly.

  3. Bell-Drummond on the chargepublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Somerset 197-7 v Kent 35-0 (3 overs)

Daniel Bell-Drummond has been in fine form in red-ball cricket so far this summer and he's absolutely flying so far.

The Kent opener smashes Yasir Arafat's first over for 22 with a six and four boundaries and moves to 29 off 13 balls.

    The chase is on!

  4. Intervalpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Surrey 170-8 v Essex (20 overs)

Azhar Mahmood departs at the start of the final over, having made 42 off 22 balls, as he slices Ravi Bopara high into the off side where Ashar Zaidi takes the catch. Bopara gifts Surrey two wides, but importantly does not concede a boundary as he finishes with 1-31.

That's the one Leicestershire needed, and Richard Levi must be kicking himself after hitting a full toss to cover. The South African made 61 off 29 balls and he's certainly given the Steelbacks a shout.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Bristolpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Sussex 242-5 v Gloucestershire 83-1 (7.3 overs)

The weather could be conspiring to deny us a great run chase at Bristol, where the covers have been brought on.

Gloucestershire have reached 83-1 against Sussex, only one run below the Duckworth-Lewis target of 84 at this point in the innings.

  7. wicket

WICKET Bell (c Patel b Hutton 11)published at 20:33 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Nottinghamshire 179-7 v Birmingham 50-1 (5.5 overs)

Having scored only one run from their first two overs, Birmingham hit 49 from the next four to get back on track as they chase 180 to beat Nottinghamshire.

It's not all good news for the Bears, Ian Bell caught in the covers by Samit Patel off the bowling of Brett Hutton with one ball left in the Powerplay.

  8. wicket

    WICKET T Curran (b Napier 32)published at 20:32 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Surrey 145-7 v Essex (17.4 overs)

    Tom CurranImage source, Rex Features

Tom Curran and Azhar Mahmood oversee a recovery by Surrey, sharing a 65-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Paceman Matt Quinn finishes his four overs with figures of 4-35 after Mahmood pulls his final delivery over mid-wicket for six.

Graham Napier starts the 18th over and Mahmood gives himself room before pounding it to the long-off boundary, but the Essex all-rounder yorks Curran three balls later, hitting the base of middle stump.

  9. Glos in with a chance?published at 20:29 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Sussex 242-5 v Gloucestershire 67-1 (6 overs)

You'd have to say it's still very unlikely, but might Gloucestershire be able to pull this one out of the bag?

Michael Klinger is leading the onslaught against visitors Sussex, with three sixes in his 41 from 20 deliveries at the end of the Powerplay.

The hosts still need to go at 12.57 an over, but if Klinger stays in, it's not impossible.

  10. 50 runs

Levi races to half-centurypublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Leicestershire 178-5 v Northamptonshire 75-1 (6 overs)

Successive boundaries off Kevin O'Brien take Richard Levi to a brilliant 20-ball half-century. The powerplay is over now, so can Leicestershire find ways to stem the flow of runs? Levi has three sixes and six fours to his credit so far.

  11. Somerset make 197published at 20:22 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Somerset 197-7 v Kent (20 overs)

The runs continue to flow on this opening night of T20 Blast action as Somerset set Kent 198 to win.

Skipper Jim Allenby stroked 91 while Peter Trego did a Peter Trego and smashed 57 in double-quick time.

Tough ask for the hosts to chase this down at Canterbury.

  12. wicket

WICKET Rossington (c Dexter b Taylor 23)published at 20:21 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Leicestershire 178-5 v Northamptonshire 56-1 (4.3 overs)

The fourth over costs Leicestershire 19 runs as Richard Levi ends it by striking Ben Raine into the crowd. They breathe a sigh of relief as Adam Rossington skies a catch off Rob Taylor - but if Levi stays in for the bulk of the innings, the Steelbacks are going to be hard to stop. Josh Cobb is the new man in against his former club.

  13. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Sussex 242-5 v Gloucestershire 43-1 (4 overs)

It's not a bad start for Gloucestershire, but they're really going to have to motor from here if they're going to chase down 243 to win.

Returning captain Michael Klinger attempts to get his side on track with successive sixes off Ollie Robinson.

Klinger accounted for a staggering 30.4% of Gloucestershire's runs in this competition last season, the highest share of any batsman for any team.

  14. WORCESTERSHIRE BEAT DURHAMpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 20 May 2016
    Breaking

    Worcestershire 225-6 (20 overs) beat Durham 187-8 (20 overs) by 38 runs

Worcestershire, who have never been to Finals Day in the competition's 13-year history, are up and running in 2016.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore's sensational 127 off 54 balls led the way for Worcestershire to pile up 225-6 and Durham were always behind the asking rate.

Those who were at New Road this evening have witnessed something special.

  15. wicket

WICKET Allenby (b Claydon 91)published at 20:15 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Somerset 186-7 v Kent (18.3 overs)

A marvelous innings by Somerset captain Jim Allenby finishes nine runs short of a century as he's bowled by Mitch Claydon.

Allenby, along with Peter Trego (57) have put Somerset in a very decent position at Canterbury though.

  16. Maiden!published at 20:14 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Nottinghamshire 179-7 v Birmingham 1-0 (2 overs)

Well there's something you don't see very often in the T20 Blast. Former England seamer Harry Gurney starts the innings with a maiden over against Ian Bell.

Incredibly, it takes the Bears 12 deliveries to get off the mark, with Sam Hain working Luke Fletcher for a single.

  17. Levi makes aggressive startpublished at 20:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Leicestershire 178-5 v Northamptonshire 32-0 ( 3 overs)

Richard Levi hit a 45-ball T20 century for South Africa four years ago, and he soon has the scoreboard rolling for Northamptonshire with a six off Rob Taylor, before hitting another and two fours in the next over bowled by Clint McKay.

  18. Quinn impresses for Essexpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Surrey 82-6 v Essex (11 overs)

Matt Quinn picks up his fourth wicket as 17-year-old Sam Curran - 24 years younger than partner Azhar Mahmood - pulls to deep square leg where Ryan ten Doeschate takes it at ankle height.

It is ten Doeschate's second catch, having previously held onto a leading edge by Gary Wilson in the previous over, bowled by Matt Dixon.

  19. wicket

WICKET Mustard (c Whiteley b Leach 64)published at 20:07 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Worcestershire 225-6 v Durham 159-7 (17 overs)

That's surely game over at New Road now as Joe Leach dismisses Phil Mustard for 64.

It's the Worcestershire paceman's fourth wicket of the innings.

Actually, make that five for Leach as Barry McCarthy nicks the final ball of the over behind.

Definitely game over now - Durham need 67 off 18 balls.

  20. Wickets tumble at Canterburypublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

    Somerset 162-5 v Kent (16 overs)

Somerset lose three wickets in the space of 10 balls as their innings begins to stall.
