  1. Third umpirepublished at 35.3 overs

    Pkn 140-5

Umpire Alex Wharf twirls his arms to signal the powerplay before Brunt strays with a legside wide. Pakistan then take on the arm of Danielle Wyatt at backward point as they run a risky single - had the ball hit the stumps, Nawaz was literally not in the picture.

From the very next ball, there's another quick single to the same fielder and this time Wyatt hits the stumps - they're going upstairs...

  2. Pkn 138-5published at 35 overs

Having taken that catch, Heather Knight keeps herself in the attack as Sana Mir is joined at the crease by Sidra Nawaz. There's a big appeal for a catch behind - instantly from Amy Jones, and a second or two later from Knight, but Nawaz survives.

Do you really need me to keep telling you the Pakistan target is 379, and the required rate is over 16 per over?

    WICKET - Bismah c Knight b Brunt 61 (Pkn 137-5)published at 34 overs

Katherine Brunt returns, having switched to the Diglis End - and it pays off for captain Knight, who takes the catch at mid-wicket as Bismah, who had played and missed a couple of times, tries to force the Barnsley speedster to leg. Five down, but a good knock by Bismah - 61 from 81 balls.

"What would be nice is if England have a few games against Australia before the World Cup. But that might not happen."

  5. Pkn 136-4 (target 379)published at 33 overs

More delicate dabbing from Sana Mir against her fellow skipper Heather Knight, and I'm beginning to suspect there are one or two heavy legs in the field after Monday's washout forced England to play successive ODIs on successive days. Not ideal - and not something they'd normally ask any international team (male or female) to do. Three singles from the over.

"What we're struggling with is, we've got everything the England fans wanted to see. And therefore we sort of start to think is the performance of Pakistan perhaps overshadowing things, are the boundaries too short, is this any sort of indication for the World Cup?"

  7. Pkn 133-4 (Bismah 60, Mir 16)published at 32 overs

With the required rate above 13.5, medium-pacer Elwiss comes in for her third over, and Pakistan are largely treated this as an extended middle practice - but Bismah breaks the shackles briefly with back-to-back boundaries through long-off and backward point. This stand is now worth 57.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Bismah Maroofpublished at 31 overs

    Pkn 122-4

That's 50 for Bismah - her 10th half-century in the ODI format - from 71 balls, with six fours. A good knock, but it will need a superhuman effort to prevent a heavy defeat for Pakistan here.

Suddenly, the game comes to life as there's a quick single and a chance for a run-out - but keeper Amy Jones fumbles her attempt to take the ball in front of the stumps, and I think it's her arm (not holding the ball) which breaks the wicket. Not out.

"I don't think it's an English trait to not enjoy things. It's just a case of people wanting the side to be better, be world class. We have to take in the fact that they're playing Pakistan. I think getting that score has allowed the bowlers to bowl the way they have. The next step will be consistency and to do it in the next one-day international and continue that in the West Indies."

  11. Pkn 118-4 (Bismah 49, Mir 12)published at 30 overs

With the game virtually over as a contest, there's a mild sense of going through the motions here, although Bismah, guiding Elwiss through the covers for her sixth four, is closing on a half century.

And if you double the score after 30 overs... Pakistan will be about 160 short.

"For someone like Heather Knight, who doesn't really turn the ball too much, it might be helpful to have fielders in front of the bat."

  13. Pkn 111-4 (target 379)published at 29 overs

With the required run rate spiralling ever higher, the debate on TMS centres on whether England can have more attacking fields. Knight whistles through her third over, just two runs from it, and the England captain has a smile on her face as she directs fielders between overs.

  14. Pkn 109-4published at 28 overs

Georgia Elwiss had to sit around with her pads on for the majority of the England innings, but she's going to have a go with the ball here, coming on as England's seventh bowler. (Given that Danielle Wyatt can also turn her arm over, Knight has no fewer than eight recognised bowlers to call on in this side). Elwiss, bowling right-arm seam, keeps it tight and Pakistan can only pick up a couple of singles and a leg bye.

  15. Pkn 106-4 (Bismah 41, Mir 9)published at 27 overs

Captain Heather Knight's golden arm did the business yesterday, but the luck is with Bismah at the moment as she prods forward and the ball flies off an inside edge past keeper Amy Jones as the Pakistan pair run two. The required rate - if anyone's still optimistic of a shock - is creeping towards 12.

  17. Pkn 103-4 (target 379)published at 26 overs

It's off-spin from both ends as Laura Marsh continues from the Diglis End, she's into her seventh over. Left-handers always look so graceful when executing cover drives, and Bismah Maroof is no exception. Meanwhile, with no slip in, captain Sana Mir executes a delicate late dab to third man, right out of the Mahela Jayawardene textbook.

Thanks Jamie. I would go as far to suggest that either England will wrap up victory sometime in the next couple of hours, or you're about to witness possibly the most exciting 25 overs in the history of women's cricket.

They need 280 from 25 overs - the required rate somewhat north of 11 runs per over.

    Drinks breakpublished at 25 overs

    Pkn 99-4

Skipper Heather Knight, resplendent in her dark sunglasses, brings herself into the attack for some skippy off breaks. Bismah advances down the pitch and thumps an authoritative boundary through mid-on. We're at the halfway point of the innings, Pakistan require a further 280 and Mr Mark Mitchener will describe their attempts to go about this Herculean task.
