So that's it for another Friday evening of T20 Blast action.

No centuries, but Brendon McCullum provided plenty of entertainment at Canterbury with his 87 not out for Middlesex, while Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry claimed 5-13 in their win over Worcestershire.

There is plenty more T20 action over the weekend, with two games on Saturday and two on Sunday, and you'll be able to listen to ball-by-ball commentary via the BBC Sport website.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes made only five on his return from injury as Durham narrowly edged to victory in a rain-affected bottom-of-the-table North group game with Yorkshire at Chester-le-Street.

The Jets' decision to bowl was justified as Chris Rushworth's 3-14 and two wickets each for Usman Arshad, Paul Coughlin and Scott Borthwick saw the Vikings bowled out for a meager 134 - with only Alex Lees (43), Jack Leaning (48) and Tim Bresnan (19) making double figures.

Stokes' return to action with the bat following a knee operation did not go to plan though as he was dismissed cheaply by Adam Lyth as the hosts collapsed to 38-3.

With lightning striking nearly, Ryan Pringle (20 not out) hit a couple of lofty blows to put Durham in the lead on Duckworth-Lewis just as the rain set in. 

The defeat leaves Yorkshire rooted to the bottom of the North group with four points, while Durham moved up to sixth on seven points.

New Zealand batsman Brendan McCullum ended his Middlesex stint with an unbeaten 87 off 57 balls as they registered a comfortable victory over Kent at Canterbury.

McCullum and Dawid Malan (60) launched their innings with a stand of exactly 100 in less than nine overs and he batted right through to see the total beyond 200, despite Darren Stevens taking 4-31.

Kent lost a wicket to the first ball of their reply and although Fabian Cowdrey hit a six and eight fours in a T20 best score of 71, Sam Northeast's 41 was the only other innings of substance.

Injured Daniel Bell-Drummond was badly missed as they came up well short of their target, with Toby Roland-Jones producing figures of 3-24.

Laurie Evans hit an unbeaten half-century as Birmingham Bears eased to an eight-wicket win over Leicestershire to go top of the North group.

After being put in at Grace Road, the Foxes slumped to 25-4 and were unable to recover as they posted a modest 125-7 from their 20 overs.

Sam Hain and Ian Bell (36 not out) got the Bears' reply off to a flying start.

But, after Leicestershire threatened to peg them back, Evans dominated a third-wicket stand of 68 with Bell, winning the game with a six with 27 balls to spare.

Colin Ingram hit an unbeaten 73 as Glamorgan claimed victory in the battle at the top of the T20 Blast South Group table.

Surrey batted first but struggled as Dale Steyn (2-20) and wicketkeeper Chris Cooke, with four catches and a stumping, helped to bowl them out for just 110 from 19.2 overs.

Glamorgan lost David Lloyd, who made 97 not out in their victory against Kent last week, to the third ball of their innings but captain Jacques Rudolph (40) and Ingram put on an unbeaten 114-run second-wicket stand as they won with 25 balls to spare.

"Not a classic by any means between two surprise strugglers in this season's South Group, but Essex ended a run of three straight defeats against last year's semi-finalists Hampshire.

"After Michael Carberry (34) and Tom Alsop (13) departed, the visitors collapsed in Chelmsford with Graham Napier's 3-31 and Ravi Bopara's 2-15 restricting them to 135-8 from their 20 overs.

"Ashar Zaidi's half-century proved the pivotal innings in the home side's run-chase after they were teetering somewhat at 45-3 requiring just 136.

"Zaidi (52) and Tom Westley (27) added 59 for the fourth wicket and Essex were home and dry with seven balls to spare."

Notts beat Derbyshire with more than five overs to spare in the East Midlands derby in the T20 Blast North Group.

Derbyshire struggled to gain a foothold in their innings and were punished by the bowling of Harry Gurney (4-20) as they posted just 114 from 19.3 overs.

Despite losing Michael Lumb lbw to Wayne Madsen and Greg Smith to a run out in within the powerplay, Notts rallied.

Riki Wessels and Dan Christian put on an unbeaten fourth-wicket stand of 58 to guide Notts to victory in 14.3 overs.

Left-arm spinner Stephen Parry claimed 5-13 as 2015 winners Lancashire bowled out the Rapids for just 53 at Old Trafford after posting a score of 149-5 in their 20 overs.

Alviro Petersen's unbeaten 68 was the foundation of the home side's score, but a fiery new-ball spell by Nathan Buck (3-12) undermined Worcestershire's hopes of reaching the target.

Debutant wicketkeeper Tom Moores took two catches and a stumping, and only Brett D'Oliveira (16) reached double figures for the visitors.

Parry took three wickets in one over as Lancashire completed their second-largest T20 win with 6.1 overs remaining in the game.

Birmingham Bears, the winners in 2014, are the new leaders of North Group following their comfortable eight-wicket victory over Leicestershire. They have a two-point lead over Northants and Worcestershire, who were bowled out for just 53 in their defeat at Old Trafford.

Glamorgan are still out in front in South Group following their fifth win out of seven, this time by nine wickets against Surrey. two wins in two days have seen Middlesex climb to second, two points, behind the Welsh county and one ahead of Sussex, Gloucestershire and Surrey.

The next T20 Blast action is tomorrow when Hampshire are at home to Gloucestershire, and Surrey play hosts to Essex at The Oval.

Kent's challenge peters out at Canterbury as Darren Stevens is well-caught by Nathan Sowter off James Fuller for 17 in the penultimate over. The final one is entrusted to Toby Roland-Jones and the home side can muster nothing more than singles as Middlesex complete their second win in successive days.

All over bar the shouting at Canterbury. Harry Podmore boosts Kent's cause with two no balls, but the home side are unable to find the boundary. They need 54 off 12 deliveries.

Essex ease home to victory with seven balls to spare as Ryan ten Doeschate chips the ball down the ground for an easy two.

Liam Dawson bowled superbly well, taking 3-24, as Hampshire looked to defend a small total but Ashar Zaidi's 52 off just 32 balls took the hosts home much to the delight of the Chelmsford crowd.

Leicestershire 125-7 v Birmingham Bears 126-2 (15.3 overs)

One ball later and it's all over, with Laurie Evans launching Kevin O'Brien for a huge six to win the game and bring up his half-century to boot.

He contributed 52 of a 68-run third-wicket stand with Ian Bell to ease Birmingham Bears over the finishing line with 27 balls to spare.

This one is only going to end one way now, with Laurie Evans overtaking his captain Ian Bell and moving into the 40s with back-to-back boundaries.

It's his highest T20 Blast score of the season and he's now within sight of a half-century.

Essex 125-4 (17 overs) v Hampshire 135-8

Ashar Zaidi is leading Essex to victory and he is doing it in style.

The Essex allrounder brings up his half-century with a powerful strike down the ground off Gareth Berg to leave the Eagles requiring just 11 runs from the final three overs.

Leicestershire had pegged Birmingham back - but not any more as Laurie Evans has the Bears cantering towards the finishing line.

A couple of boundaries off Neil Dexter and a maximum off Tom Wells leaves Ian Bell's side needing 27 off seven overs.

Well we've been waiting all night for the battle of the "Boom Booms" and it is Ashar Zaidi who has won this round. 

The Essex allrounder launches Shahid Afridi for an almighty six bring up the Eagles' 100.

Hampshire strike back though, as Liam Dawson traps Tom Westley plumb in front for 27 - his third scalp of the evening.
