That is an inch of heel on the bottom corner of the danger area? That's extraordinary. I don't think he'll be buying the umpire a pint tonight. That's harsh.

  2. Anderson taken out of attackpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

Somebody must have got a round of Red Bull in at lunch - it's all gone a bit frantic since then. And there's more excitement/controversy - James Anderson has been given a third warning for running on to the pitch, which means he has to be taken out of the attack. He looks rather miffed.

That was a delicious delivery - succulent. It was just outside the off stump, and then just late hooping inswing. Great delivery by Woakes.

Amir lbw Woakes 1 (Pak 368-8)

Ooooh, that looks very, very straight to me. Amir is late on it, and replays show the ball would have the stumps, no question. Woakes has got three wickets and Pakistan have lost three wickets for 10 runs.

    Pak 368-7

Woakes swings the final ball of his over back into the left-hander Amir. It hits the pad but the umpire shakes his head. England think it was pad before bat so they want a review.

Arslan Tahir: Unfair! How is that given out? Bairstow used his elbow not hand?

Mike Bell: LBW reviewed, run out reviewed. What's the most number of third umpire reviews, successful or not, in any one Test match over?

  7. Pak 368-7published at 14:24 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    Sarfraz 28, Amir 1

Mohammam Amir joins Sarfraz Ahmed at the crease. England have two wickets since lunch, they have had another overturned and the crowd is rocking. Pakistan's lead, however, is now worth 71.

If for example the ball was in your right hand, and your left elbow hit the wickets, it wouldn't be out. That is a good piece of keeping. Do you think he meant to do it?

Yasir run out 7 (Woakes) (Pak 367-7)

It's all go at Edgbaston. Yasir is scampering to get back here for a second, the throw comes in and Bairstow knocks the bails off. The third umpire is needed again... and Yasir is out of his ground - just. Bairstow's elbow hit the stumps there, but that's enough to send him on his way. Cracking throw from Woakes.

He got a bit of a stride in, on the walk. He's just got outside the line, then it hit him.

  11. Pak 366-6published at 14:19 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

There's no inside edge, so it's all about where the ball hit Yasir.... and replays show it struck him just outside the line. The decision is overturned, Yasir survives and Anderson is cursing. Again.

It looked good from here. It was mid-shin, the bat trying to catch up.

    Pak 366-6

Anderson full and straight, Yasir misses, the ball cannons into pad... and the finger goes up. Yasir sends it upstairs.

Appeal from Woakes, pinning Sarfraz on the front pad as he attempts to work to leg. Not out. England decide against a review - and with good reason. Too high, probably leg side and Sarfraz was about six feet down the pitch. He's almost on the move before the bowler even enters his delivery stride. Just that one leg bye off the over.

Yasir is better off when he plays a few shots. If he tries to stick in he can end up nicking one, but if he plays a few shots he does nicely.

And almost another for England! A rejuvenated Anderson finds extra bounce to take the shoulder of new man Yasir Shah's bat... and the ball flies over the leaping gully. Safe. The number eight follows it up by shovelling one high over mid-wicket for a couple with marginally more control. Applause all round for Anderson. This is getting interesting.

Inside edge on to the left heel, and back on to the stumps. It's kind of an angry celebration from Anderson. The wicket is a real surprise, it didn't look like coming. It's a slow walk-off from Misbah.

    Misbah b Anderson 56 (Pak 358-6)

Got 'im! Anderson gets his man - and it's the big one. Misbah, his feet stuck in glue, pushes at one from Anderson just outside off stump. Not much movement to the naked eye, but the balls cannons off the inside edge and on to Misbah's stumps. England have hope.
