    Moeen 87, Finn 7

Now it's Pakistan's turn to consider a review as Wahab thinks he has Finn caught down the leg side. They have one review left, but decide against it - and just as well, as replays suggest it brushed his sweater. A well-run two from the lanky Finn ensures Moeen has the strike next over.

Alan, Bucks: I think it's time that Mr Broad moves down to number 11. Sadly his days of run scoring are behind him.

Tim: Time for Broad to bat 11.

Jimmy, Bonnyrigg: Has Stuart Broad ever not appealed an lbw decision?

    Sohail 17-1-51-3

Finn is hit on the pad, Sohail yells an appeal... but umpire Bruce Oxenford's only hand movement is to signal a leg bye. (He's not carrying his Captain America-style arm shield today, in case you wondered). Finn's a tall man, and it struck him at the top of the knee-roll on the rise. Two more singles are added - Moeen advances to 86, Finn has one.

Joshua Owen: I'm sorry, but Stuart Broad has officially become an absolute rabbit of a batsman.

Arthur Goddard: Has to be a case for Finn coming in at nine ahead of Broad in view of respective recent innings. The latter, sadly, a liability now.

Flemming Jensen: Really, Stuart Broad? Really? Wasting the last review with Moeen still there... not cool.

    Wahab 18-0-87-3

Steven Finn is the new batsman - and Pakistan look to turn the screw on England by replacing Yasir with Wahab Riaz so it's pace from both ends. A single from Moeen off the first ball of the over leaves the bearded maestro 15 short of his century, he clearly has confidence in Finn holding his end up. Think of Dunedin, Finny... in fact, England's number 10 is so confident, he not only sees off Wahab's over, he takes a single off the last ball.

You've got to have a conversation with the non-striker and ask him what he thinks. Stuart Broad reviewed it straightaway - that's why I thought he must have thought he got an inside edge. That's pretty poor from Stuart.

Daylight between bat and ball, so no inside edge - umpire's call for impact, umpire's call for hitting the wickets, so Broad goes, tearing his gloves off angrily. Not one of the best decisions to review there from the batsman.

Geoffrey Boycott often says "add two wickets to the score and see what it looks like" - England have done just that.

Straightaway reviewed. He must have had an inside edge.

Stuart Broad is hit on the pad second ball by Sohail, and given out.

You know what will happen next... he calls for a review.

That was the right decision. It was the right decision by the umpire. That's where Pakistan haven't bowled enough - there's the chance that you'll get the outside edge.

    Woakes c Sarfraz b Sohail 45 (Eng 282-7)

Third umpire Joel Wilson upholds on-field colleague Bruce Oxenford's decision - there's speculation on TMS that tape on Woakes' bat might have prevented a HotSpot impression, but the snickometer has confirmed the edge.

So much for the person who said not six minutes ago that he was odds-on for a third Test fifty... that's why I'm not a gambler!

  12. England reviewpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 11 August 2016

Ooh - nothing revealed on HotSpot, which brings a cheer from the crowd. But there's a big noise on the snickometer, which should quieten them down. "There's a little feather on this," says Michael Vaughan on TMS. This is going to be out...

    Yasir 15-2-51-0

Chris Woakes has two Test fifties to his name, and he must be odds-on to add a third, but he's been watchful when necessary and sees off a maiden from Yasir.

Since the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow, the wheels have come off for Pakistan - they've over-attacked and not played with any discipline. They've really chased it and made it easy to score.

    Moeen 83, Woakes 45

Pakistan rotate their seamers as they look to break this increasingly confident partnership - so it's Wahab off, and Sohail Khan returning to the attack. While Woakes has dominated this stand, Moeen is still playing his part, moving into the 80s with a smattering of fortune as he edges for four. But Woakes earns a warm round of applause with another flashing drive which is scooped back just inside the long-off boundary by age-defying captain Misbah-ul-Haq. That's 45 runs added in the last five overs.

  17. Stress fracture ends Topley's seasonpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 11 August 2016

In news from the counties, Hampshire and England fast bowler Reece Topley has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The 22 left-armer, a member of the England squad at the World T20 in March, has made only one appearance for Hampshire since moving from Essex at the end of last season.

He fractured a hand while batting against Warwickshire in April before he'd even bowled for his new county, but has since sustained a stress fracture to his back.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White told BBC Radio Solent: "Hopefully he can get some recognition again with England and hopefully he fires for us next year."

Phil Tufnell asks Ed Smith on TMS whether he's ever played the fairground game "whack a mole" - while Chris Woakes has been doing very well at the newer game "whack a Pakistan bowler" as the tourists' attack continues to take a pummelling. This time it's Moeen cashing in as he delicately sweeps Yasir for four.

When Hanif was run out for 499, there was a discrepancy between the scoreboard and the official scorer. Hanif was on 498 towards the end of the day, but he thought he was on 496 so was looking to keep the strike, and was run out going for the second run. But the scorer said he was on 498, not 496, so he was run out for 499.

After right-hander Woakes succeeds with the off-drive, it's left-hander Moeen's turn to show Pakistan the maker's name with as good an on-drive as you'll see today - four more to England. And another fluent four by Woakes brings up the fifty stand for this seventh wicket.

In a clear case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, Pakistan shuffle the field again, Woakes just smacks it through a gap in the covers, before a delicate dab through gully brings him his third boundary of the over - and England's fourth. He has 42 from 44 balls including eight fours - and 42 of this partnership of 61.
