Will there be added time on TMS today to allow Geoffrey to fulfil his full commitment of "overs"?

    16 overs

Pakistan have that small moral victory I spoke of a couple of overs ago, as Stuart Broad is out of the attack and Steven Finn replaces his fellow right-arm seamer at the Pavilion End. (I nearly typed "eight-arm seamer" there - octopoid cricket? The mind boggles). Finn has Yasir playing and missing, but Pakistan plunder a couple of singles from the over.

It's been an absorbing series. Full credit to Pakistan as well - a lot of people thought they wouldn't do as well as they are doing.

Now it's a chance for Anderson to have a go at Yasir, who steers a well-run two through the covers - while Bairstow doesn't have much chance with one which swings down the leg side and disappears for four byes.

When the rate drops over a couple of hours, the fielding captain is removed from the field of play for the next hour. He must remain on the boundary (not allowed to go for a break in changing room). He is then allowed back on if the rate has improved. If it hasn't then the vice captain has to join the captain on the boundary. Happy days.

It's been Broad and Anderson all morning, and it will be a moral victory for Pakistan if they can survive unscathed until Cook turns to Woakes and Finn. A rare moment of extravagance from Azhar Ali as he swipes a four which flies off the edge past gully. Cook responds by moving fourth slip to gully, and short leg retreats to leg gully, though he keeps his helmet on.

Anderson is a beautiful bowler to watch. There's a purpose, a theory behind what he's trying to achieve. he reminds me of Glenn McGrath., Anderson is more subcontinental in his method because he tries to pitch it up on the fuller length.

It's like we're watching two games at the moment. Broad v Yasir is the more entertaining, cavalier contest, while Anderson v Azhar has been a more gritty, attritional affair with no-one giving an inch. A fourth maiden for the "Burnley Express".

Ian, Leatherhead: Geoffrey becalmed by cycle lanes - the ultimate corridors of uncertainty. Ironic.

Robert from Somerset: I wonder how well the cab driver is taking being told how his passenger could do so much better for an hour! Let's hope he has some earmuffs on board.

Jack, Piccadilly: I suggest Mr Boycott sets his alarm a little earlier

It's a lovely day, nice and sunny and it's been some gritty batting by Yasir Shah. Broad has been hitting him on the knuckles. It's been a good punch-up.

    Azhar 11, Yasir 17

Joe Root is polishing the ball between each delivery as though his wellbeing depends on its shine, as Broad resumes his duel with Yasir, who unleashes a glorious on-drive for four.

With Yasir playing shots like that, and Azhar gritting it out, if the scoreboard went blank, you'd struggle to work out who was the nightwatchman and who was the front-line batsman.

Anderson furiously polishes the ball before running in for his sixth over, Azhar is gritting it out although he's now been overtaken by the nightwatchman. Good over from Anderson, though TMS's Charles Dagnall thinks "it's a Woakes day".

Martin, Bedford: For every over short the whole team have to watch 30 minutes of film of Geoffrey Boycott batting.

Hans Pinkard: Only way to fix over rates is to deny the new ball to any team significantly behind. Incentivises captain and bowlers who are the only ones who can make it happen.

Broad's hostile over continues, but Yasir plays a superb shot for a nightwatchman, crashing a drive through the covers for four. Yasir survives - for now.

That's short and straight at the throat. If you're going to hang around here nightwatchman, you'll have to face a few of those. It looks like the pitch has woken up as has this Oval crowd - it's buzzing.

Broad tucks Yasir up for room, appeals for a catch behind... but despite the usual enthusiasm from Broad, Captain Cook decides against a review. And the replay shows the ball flicking the top of his pad rather than his bat. Next ball, Yasir defends a throat ball and Broad charges towards him in the follow-through, using his Nottingham Forest soccer skills to kick the ball towards the stumps. Gripping stuff!
