A quick score check on the Super League before we go...

Surrey Stars are up against it - needing an implausible 39 from the last over to beat Loughborough Lightning.

Western Storm are 76-2 from 12.1 overs needing 138 to beat Southern Vipers, with Stafanie Taylor going well again.

And in the BBC Radio 5 live sports extra commentary game, Yorkshire Diamonds are 132-4 from 16.5 overs against Lancashire Thunder.

But it was Pakistan's day as they finished on 340-6 - after Younus brought up his 32nd Test century, and keeper Sarfraz Ahmed helped the tourists take the lead.

With Younus Khan approaching his century, Chris Woakes then picked up two wickets in five balls as captain Misbah-ul-Haq was caught at gully, before a wild shot from debutant Iftikhar Ahmed saw him follow the skipper back to the dressing-room soon afterwards.

More from Paul Farbrace on Sky Sports: "Up until the last 30 minutes, it was a long, tough day. The last couple of wickets gives more encouragement. Days two and three are the best time to bat. Pakistan's batsmen have earned the right to bat on a good pitch today. We stuck to our plans, but missed chances have been an issue."

Asad Shafiq reached his century - but soon afterwards, was brilliantly caught by Stuart Broad at mid-wicket.

We also had a rather daft use of the DRS by England for lbw to a ball which hit the middle of the bat... see what you think.

Alex Hales was fined 15% of his match fee after going into the third umpire's room yesterday when he was given out caught.

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace on Sky Sports: "It probably wasn’t the brightest [idea] to charge in and see the third umpire in the middle of a game. You can’t have that.

"Whatever was said in there stays in there. He knows he’s done wrong. He deserves to be fined. Yes there’s frustration, but you have to get on with the game.

"He can play international cricket, he showed that against Sri Lanka, and we think he will become a very good international cricketer. He probably woke up this morning and thought 'I didn’t need to do that'."

Dropped catches had littered the morning for England - but for most of the final session, it was the Shafiq and Younus show, with Pakistan's fourth-wicket pair, who both went on to hit centuries, adding 150 and finding the boundary on a regular basis.

Pakistan centurion Asad Shafiq on Sky Sports: "It’s a very good situation. When you bowl first and the other team score 328 and you get a lead on the first innings it is always good. It will really help in the next innings.

"It was really difficult for me previously, because things weren’t going my way, my head was falling over. Everything I did wasn’t going good. I worked with the batting coach, he told me some things to work on, and I did that.

"We have to get 100 more from here. A 150-run lead will be excellent."

Yasir Shah is going to have to step up for Pakistan. But if England bat like they did at Old Trafford and cut out the mistakes, they can play him out of the game. And they can still win this. My money's still on England.

Sarfraz Ahmed is cocky, confident and is up for the challenge. He's the best wicketkeeper-batsman I've seen for Pakistan since Rashid Latif, and that's going back a few years. Both sides are in this game as Pakistan are hardly ahead, and England have a nearly new ball. If they get these two out tomorrow, the tail isn't too clever. But if they get up to 100, England can't keep giving teams leads of 100+ as they're dropping straightforward catches and they can't always get out of jail. On paper, I believe they're better than Pakistan, but tomorrow will be the defining moment. Woakes and Anderson have beaten the bat with good deliveries, so there is something there to encourage them.

We have two sides here who play very interesting cricket. We've talked about over-rates before, but it short-changes the public and short-changes the game. Today, it's a better product than when I played, as it was slower and there were more draws then. I enjoy watching it today, but I feel short-changed and the players don't really care.

When England were looking tired when the new ball came, that Iftikhar [Ahmed] in his first Test... I could describe his shot but I can't swear on air. Stuart Broad took a very good catch at mid-wicket to get rid of Shafiq, and that got England into the game.

Anderson bowled some beautiful deliveries, with some real shape on the ball, but this is a good batting pitch. You have to take chances early on as when you make inroads, the people coming in are under more pressure. But they didn't and Shafiq took advantage. Wasn't it a big stroke by the captain to send him in ahead of Younus Khan, after a pair? But it worked. And Younus stood still today like the old Younus, his head was still at the moment of delivery and he played nicely. Two fine innings.

Well 328 was enough. Catches win matches. England had drops when it mattered. The energy was there from the England bowlers, but Alex Hales dropped a cuckoo, and Jimmy Anderson who's a wonderful catcher dropped one. And it was costly. I'm not going on Finn's caught and bowled, any bowler will tell you it's difficult. They're not a great catching side, they only catch one in three.

Philip Mactaggart: Why not bring in Bell and KP? Both miles ahead of Ballance and Vince. Imagine an England batting line up with them in it.
