You can't ride down a champion. Younus has been outstanding this game. His balance was right, he's been determined and he's got loads of energy. England will be happy to see the back of him.

The review fails and England strike - finally. TV replays suggest the ball would have hit leg stump. The cheers from the crowd are followed by a standing ovation. Richly deserved. What. An. Innings.

    Younus 218 (Pak 531-8)

Younus gone! At last! Or has he? Full from Anderson, Younus misses as he tries to work across the line, ball hits front pad and Marais Erasmus raises the finger. Younus wants another look...

The big partnership between Younus Khan and Asad Shafiq set the tempo for this innings. Younus with a powerful double century has put Pakistan in a great position and in the driver's seat for sure. They must make sure the bowlers drive home the advantage.

Did I say Amir looked like Gary Ballance? Make that Moeen Ali. Joe Root, back into the attack, pushes it wider to the left-hander, who plays a glorious late cut-cum-drive to collect his fourth four. Pakistan's lead breaches 200.

Mustafa Feeroz: Zillions watching in Pakistan and everyone glued to the TV. That's how all national sport should be - everywhere.

Strevs: We've only won one game convincingly in this series and we had Ben Stokes in the side.

Amir is cutting loose now, quite literally. It needs a scrambling stop at deep point to deny the tailender a boundary off Anderson. Two runs off the over, which makes it a good 'un for England.

Short again from Finn, Younus is making room to uppercut over the solitary slip, but he doesn't even need to make contact. The ball misses bat and again flies over Bairstow for four more byes. If that was fortunate, there's nothing remotely streaky about a booming drive on the up off England's quickest bowler that whistles past mid-off's right. For safety reasons, it's probably for the best that a fielder's hand wasn't closer to that. England's shoulders have long since slumped.

This is a terrific batting performance from a side that's not really used to putting up 500 scores in Test cricket. Anderson had a similar field for Younus in the UAE - he's trying to bottle him up on the leg side.

England go up for caught behind. Well, Anderson and wicketkeeper Bairstow go up. More in hope than expectation of some sort of a glove on a pull from Younus. Not out. The double centurion spanks the next ball back past the bowler for four. That rather sums up England's day.

We've looked ordinary. We've made mistakes, in the batting with some poor shots and in the catching. We could have done better if we'd caught our catches.

Time for Plan G. A man is stationed at short leg for Amir as Finn goes short - so short that a bouncer is called a wide on height. Solid defence from Amir, who, after a tentative start, is starting to look like a more reliable Gary Ballance.

If you're a Pakistan supporter, it's been fantastic. There will be zillions watching in Pakistan at 7pm in the evening. They're potty about the game. This will be wonderful for them. They'll be sat glued to the television.

Despite a day and a half in the field, Chris Woakes still looks immaculate. I expect nothing less from a man who has a haircut every 10 days. The pitch is flat, the crowd subdued and Pakistan's number 10 is scoring with something approaching freedom. Worrying times for England. Three singles off the over.

James Hoste: Looks like Boycs' prediction of it being a 600 wicket were accurate. Poor from England. 2, 4 & 5 an issue, and missing Stokes.

Thomas Huyasinga: Root, Cook, Hales et al should have taken a pen and paper out with them after lunch to take notes on how to put a game to bed.

Younus and Amir are still talking tactics mid-over. "What do you reckon?" "Just do whatever you like, mate." Amir pushes through a vacant mid-on to collect three off the final ball. He has raced along to 22.
