Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match SpecialIt's so important that England get these four wickets quickly. If England get one in the first couple of overs they could quite quickly limit Pakistan to a lead of 40. If they don't catch or don't put the ball in the right areas Pakistan could easily get a lead of over a hundred.
Jimmy does Nasserpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 13 August 2016
10:42 BST 13 August 2016Cricket United day is traditionally the day when England's players have fun with drawing their colleagues (or in this case members of the media) - here's James Anderson's likeness of Nasser Hussain. I sense lingering bitterness over Nasser's decision at the toss at Brisbane in 2002. Smithers, I think we'll field...
Fortune favours Shafiqpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 13 August 2016
10:39 BST 13 August 2016Shafiq continued to ride his luck a little - two more half-chances going just wide of fielders.
Weather reportpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 13 August 2016
10:38 BST 13 August 2016BBC Weather's Philip Avery: "It will be just about dry with glorious skies across much of the south east. But a weather front is coming out of central and southern Wales. As the day goes on much of the activity from the front will be confined to southwest of England.
"It’s not really a swing-type morning. It’s not really humid; it’s quite pleasant. If the sun pops through we can see temperatures in the low 20s. First up, James Anderson and the rest will be looking at the skies and hoping there will be swing. Tomorrow might be more of a swing day."
England rue dropped catchespublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 13 August 2016
10:37 BST 13 August 2016The Oval may be turning blue today - but the air was almost certainly blue yesterday after England dropped three catches - the most crucial of which was Asad Shafiq on seven - he went on to score 109.
It's a metaphorical walk of shame here for Alex Hales, James Anderson and Steven Finn.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match SpecialThis partnership is key. Sarfraz Ahmed is dangerous, he's a proper pest. These conditions are similar to what happened at Edgbaston. An 80 or 100-run lead will be plenty.

10:32 BST 13 August 2016Today's the day when The Oval turns blue for the charity Cricket United day - I hope you're suitably attired in a blue shirt for the day, I certainly am - so it's more of a Blue Saturday than a Blue Monday as England and Pakistan battle for top place in the new order of ICC Test rankings.

10:30Morning, everyone. It's Super Saturday over in Rio, and the start of the Premier League football season - but in this small corner of the internet, our focus remains on day three of the final Test between England and Pakistan - and it's finely balanced.
