Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "We were here to win the series, England were favourites. It was disappointing the way we lost the second Test, but 2-2 was a good result for our team. The innings of Younus Khan was important, he's a champion player and it was a champion knock - a winning knock for Pakistan."

England coach Trevor Bayliss on Sky Sports: "What's disappointed me is the same as for the last 6-12 months, we rely very heavily on Cook and Root to score runs. Bairstow has done extremely well and Moeen has made some runs but we need two or three other guys to stand up in the batting order."

Coach Trevor Bayliss speaks to Sky Sports on England's problems with catching: "It's a little bit like our overall play, we're up and down. Some games we will catch well but the biggest area is concentration, we have dropped some easy ones and that can only be concentration."

If England had caught their catches, they would have bowled Pakistan out for less than their total. The captain can't legislate for people dropping cuckoos. When we had the chance to grab the initiative, we didn't do that. So I don't think it was a bad toss. But England's bowling was quite disappointing. Stuart Broad didn't do anything with the ball, they didn't bowl Jimmy Anderson for three hours and they all bowled too short - trying to get the batsmen to bat on the back foot. I don't want them to bowl half-volleys, but I want them to bowl two foot further forward.

Will you carry on in Test cricket when Pakistan go to Australia?

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "When the team is playing like that, you really want to play. It's too early to say, let's see. I feel good, it's sometimes about how tired you are mentally. But I'm proud to be captain of this team."

England's Joe Root on TMS: "We know the pitches will be different in the winter, but we've proved that we can win in India, there's no reason we can't go there and do something really special. It's about putting those performances together consistently, take our chances and make them count."

Do you want to stay at number three?

"I don't see why not, I feel comfortable there at the moment if it's the right thing for the balance of the team."

  9. Misbah-ul-Haq - a 'calming influence'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

He's the same win or lose, he has a calming influence. He's not stood there like a statue, There's no histrionics from them and they seem to react to that. For me, the wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed is one of their stars - I think he's only dropped one catch in four Tests and there's a confident cockiness about him when he bats. I think he averages 44, I think he must be one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen. Rashid Latif was good but only averaged 30, while Wasim Bari had wonderful hands but couldn't bat like him.

  10. Pakistan's winning momentpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur on TMS: "We came here to win, we thought we could, but Pakistan hadn't played a Test series outside of Asia for six years so this is a fantastic result. We knew we let two sessions slip badly at Edgbaston which cost us, but we won five sessions to three there, and that gave the guys a lot of belief. We knew we could stay ahead of England if we got into a position where we were ahead."

From a man who's disappointed, that was very honest form Alastair. He talked about the catches which had gone down, and also made the point they were no further forward. It's just frustrating as you feel we should have beat them. Younus' innings with the two tail-enders who blocked while they added about 140 runs, turned the game. It took a lot of character and determination for Yasir Shah to come back here and get wickets. You never know which side of the bed Pakistan are going to get out of, but it's been fascinating watching.

  13. England's batting under the microscopepublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "We've given everyone a pretty fair go. For a batter, our currency is runs - and as a top order, we haven't consistently been doing it. We're still the same side who beat Australia, won away in South Africa so it's not all doom and gloom. We're a work in progress. The catching is a concern - when we've won games we've caught our catches, when we've lost we've dropped our catches. We've definitely dropped in standard this series."

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "You expect to win your home series, but Pakistan showed their class - we knew Younus was going to get us eventually as you don't average 50 in more than 100 Tests if you're not a class player."

  15. Captain's viewpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "It was special, keeping in mind it was Independence Day it was something special to draw the series here after being 2-1 down, losing the second Test badly and losing the third. But the way the team fought back, I'm a really happy captain."

England's Chris Woakes: It’s gone well. Coming into summer my test record wasn’t what I’d want it. So nice to put things right. Ben Stokes' injury let me have a chance in the side. Competition is good. As long as the coach see that our batting and bowling is strong enough individually, we can maybe play all three or four of us.

  17. Man of the Seriespublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq and England's Chris Woakes have been named their team's respective "Man of the Series" as nominated by each team's coach.

  18. Man of the Matchpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

Pakistan's Younus Khan: "Whenever Pakistan win like this, especially against a top team like England it's always a happy side. As a senior player I always want to contribute. That’s why it was on the right time."

Like a politician who's just won an election after being behind in the primaries, Misbah walks along the boundary with his team-mates, every now and then raising an arm in acknowledgement to the crowd. Steven Finn sits in the England dressing room with visible strapping around his left thigh. England cricket made this announcement a short while ago: Finn "strained his left hamstring and will have a scan on Monday".

  20. Captain's viewpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "We played at a disappointing level - we've drawn a series so it's not the end of the world, but we had the opportunity to beat Pakistan and it's frustrating. We weren't good enough in all three areas. It was a 50-50 call at the toss, but the way we played it was irrelevant because we didn't bat, bowl or field well enough. It's not all doom and gloom, we've seen the emergence of Chris Woakes as a Test cricketer, Jonny Bairstow has gone from strength to strength as a keeper."
