Eye injury changed me for the better – Boucherpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 24 August 2016
18:06 BST 24 August 2016Four years ago, the career of one of cricket's greatest wicketkeepers was ended overnight by a freak injury on the field of play.
South Africa's Mark Boucher, who holds the record of 998 dismissals in international cricket, was struck by a bail dislodged from the stumps and as a result lost the lens, iris and pupil of his left eye.
After taking a prolonged break from the sport, Boucher is returning to full-time cricket as coach of the Multiply Titans, holder of all three South African domestic titles.
In an interview with this week’s Stumped on BBC World Service, he reflected on the shocking ending to his outstanding career and offered a surprising solution for how to improve safety for keepers.

Faulkner takes hat-trickpublished at 18:03
18:03Some news from Colombo where all-rounder James Faulkner has become the sixth Australian to take a one-day international hat-trick.
Playing in the second match against Sri Lanka, the left-arm seamer dismissed Kusal Perera with the final ball of the 46th over before removing Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera in the 48th.
Sri Lanka, 1-0 down in the five-match series, were bowled out for 288.
Bruce Reid, Anthony Stuart, Brett Lee, Clint McKay and Dan Christian are the other Australians with ODI hat-tricks.

18:00 BST 24 August 2016And despite some late entertainment from Imad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz, Pakistan's 260-6 doesn't look enough.

17:58 BST 24 August 2016But England were excellent either side of a rain delay, with regular wickets stifling Pakistan.

17:54Just joining us? It's been an innings of, erm, three halves. England started well, chipping away at the Pakistan top order...

Rain delay plays in England's favourpublished at 17:45
17:45Pakistan looked like setting England a big total before rain interrupted their progress.
England then took the initiative after the break with two quick wickets.
Adil Rashid showed a safe pair of hands to remove Shoaib Malik off Liam Plunkett for 17.
And then Mark Wood caught Sarfraz Ahmed off Woakes for 51 to put England in the driving seat.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match SpecialPakistan are at least 40 short of where they should have been. The rain helped England, but they were impressive in the final 15 overs. Wood, Woakes and Plunkett were outstanding.
Pak 260-6published at 50 overs
50 oversThere was a distinct comedy edge to that ending. Imad is a bit like Wile E Coyote in his attempts to smack a few boundaries. He is doing everything he possibly can - moving around the crease, swinging hard - but is doomed to failure. Blame that Acme bat.
Pak 258-6published at 49.2 overs
49.2 oversThat's interesting. Imad walks one way, then the other, before trying to scoop. He somehow gets a single.

49 oversI'll be honest with you, I don't know how Imad is getting the ball to go where he is hitting it. He starts to pull and then somehow opens the face of his bat to steer the ball through backward point. To be fair, he swings hard, the lad. He does just that to hammer the last ball of Wood's 10 overs down the ground for four.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match SpecialWoakes has a great summer. Bairstow has been England's best player over the past 12 months, but Woakes has been the best this summer.
Pak 246-6published at 48 overs
48 oversPakistan are limping to the close. They need to be firing rockets but all they have in the arsenal are a couple of plastic dart guns. Woakes keeps the pair to just five.
