Pakistan may have been glad to see the back of Joe Root today but this picture sums up perfectly the spirit of this whole tour so far - mutual respect. And I think it makes for the perfect way to end today's coverage.

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Our fielding is a priority at the moment. It's a dry square, but we're a better side fielding than we've shown in the first two games.

"We're playing some really good cricket. But we don't want to take it for granted. We don't take 2-0 for granted."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "It was a pretty clinical performance all round. The bowlers gave a great effort. From the first four overs they got the ball talking. Wood and Woakes bowled some absolute jaffas. It was a great way to start the innings

Pakistan captain Azhar Ali: "The guys worked hard and kept fighting. That is a positive sign. It wasn't the start we wanted but Sarfraz scoring a hundred, it was one of the best we have seen from him. The wicket looked really good after the first few overs. We could have scored 300 but for those early wickets. If you want to win you have to score 300.

"We need to apply ourselves. We were short in the first game as well.

"We would like to find a combination. We think we bat deep and have good bowling options. The guys coming in are suited to the new style of one-day game. We can take a lot of positives from this game."

Man of the match Joe Root: "You could see through the back end of our innings that reverse could play a factor. You just need to play the situation as you see it. We rotated nicely and stayed in touching distance of Duckworth-Lewis and then got past it.

On how he was holding up after a clash of legs with Adil Rashid while fielding: "I managed to play and bat for nearly 50 overs so hopefully the ankle won't be a problem."

England will just say it was a very professional performance - they will be delighted.

And so the nerves remained. The required runs were ticked off bit by bit. The leading edges came for Moeen Ali, who was also nearly run out at one point.

But up stepped Chris Woakes, who cut Yasir Shah for four to finally (finally!) give England the win.

Stokes looked on course for his half-century and got within eight of it with a couple of fours off Hasan Ali, but a third attempt to gain four came courtesy of an ugly heave, which resulted in a wicket for Pakistan.

And just when we debated how quickly Root might aim for a century, England's number three somehow contrived to get a leading edge...

England's wobbles probably began with Morgan's departure for 68, bowled trying to cut Imad through the point area. 

Ben Stokes smashed a few around, and had a few verbals as well with the Pakistan bowlers. His 42 included a lovely six off Yasir Shah.

Eoin Morgan, who probably needs to work on his running between the wickets and not to mention his calling, joined Root for a very healthy 112-run stand that took England to 147 and set up the victory push.

When Joe Root is in danger of being run out for the second game running, you know it's going to be an interesting run chase. However, the Yorkshireman survived to later deliver the perfect off drive, prompting Ed Smith on TMS to call for the shot to be clipped up and shown to the world. We obliged...

And to think England were nearly mirroring Pakistan at the start of this run chase. Jason Roy fell to the second ball of the innings, and Alex Hales continued his wretched recent run by being bowled off an ugly heave. England on a precarious 35-2

Well you can't say England are not an entertaining side. Even if sometimes they don't quite mean it. A few late wobbles, it wouldn't be an England game without it, made it an interesting finish. Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes got the hosts home in the end though. Not quite the eight overs left that Alec Stewart was hoping for, it was 15 balls in the end.

They ripped the heart out of Pakistan early on - and Pakistan never really came back. A fantastic knock from Sarfraz gave them a score but England have done it comfortably. It's been a slow cruise - well, more of a barge. Happy days.

Win! At last. Chris Woakes steps on to his backfoot to cut Yasir for four and it's handshakes all round. England win to go 2-0 up in the five-match series with three left to play.

Moeen works Yasir Shah to the leg side. One to win.

Moeen was nowhere near - he would have been out by miles.

One-fifths of a chance as Woakes flicks Hasan over the circle on the leg side with a fielder attempting a jump in vain. Cries from all the other Pakistan players who are clutching at straws. A leading edge from Moeen causes a few more nerves in the crowd. Liam Plunkett is padded up and ready - helmet and all - as Moeen charges down the ground but completely misses the ball before running a hasty single and nearly getting run out. The manual on making a meal of a simple chase is being written as we speak.
