  1. Pak 229-7published at 47 overs

    Imad 55, Wahab 1

Apparently, Imad Wasim was born in Swansea. There you go. Let it never be said we don't bring you all the best nuggets. Root and Rashid meanwhile have given the global signal of "it's cool bro" after their coming together earlier, a fist-bump giving the crowd something else to cheer about.

To finish off this Wood over, Imad steps out to about 10th stump on the leg side but can't quite make contact.

It is a bit of a crunching of the leg. They both stooped for the catch and Rashid's knees have crunched into Root's ankle. He is up, though. He is just milking it for a big crowd!

Wicket, and an OUCH! Hasan is surprised by a Plunkett bouncer and a leading edge loops into the leg side. Joe Root runs in from mid-wicket to take a very good catch but only after colliding with Adil Rashid running in from square leg. Root immediately looked in a bit of trouble, clutching his legs. But he's back up now. Phew!

  4. 50 runs

On fire! Imad gets to his half-century by charging down to Plunkett and driving a full toss for four through mid-off. That followed some extraordinary hitting from Imad, who first strode down to try and pull but sliced it back to third man for six. Next, he absolutely smoked it down the ground for four. Plunkett's getting annoyed and has a few words with the batsman. Getting feisty now!

It has been very slow this pitch and Rashid has bowled slightly too short. He hasn't been quite at his best. generally, I think he is getting more confident in the team and feels like he belongs.

  6. Umpire reviewpublished at 45 overs

    Pak 205-6

Umpires have gone upstairs as Imad's attempted back-foot drive appears to bounce off his foot with Buttler taking a catch. Did that hit the ground too? Yep, replays prove it so. Stand down everyone.

Rashid finishes his 10 overs. Crowd acknowledge the effort, he's given away 51 but with the important wicket of Sarfraz.

  7. Pak 205-6published at 44 overs

Well, what do Pakistan do from here? I have a feeling I've asked this question once already today. But regardless, Imad now needs to take control. They need a few big overs. No more of the prod around one-an-over stuff. Azhar Ali, who I don't think has trimmed out his beard edges today, in deep conversation with Mickey Arthur. Time to plot those bowling combinations.

  8. Pak 202-6published at 43 overs

The end of the over came shortly after Sarfraz's wicket, but take another look at how the right-hander reached his century. Marvel at the celebration, and mimic it next time you do something successful like expertly jumping from one sofa to another.

It is a very fine innings. He has many virtues but power is perhaps not one of them. It is an innings that keeps Pakistan in the game. He is getting a standing ovation and he deserves it.

    Sarfraz c Hales b Rashid 105 (Pak 202-6)

Well, he walks off to a standing ovation and loads of applause, and rightly so. Sarfraz departs trying to slog his way over deep-midwicket. It's a heave of not-so-sure-but-let's-give-it-a-go proportions and for a while it looked successful. But Alex Hales, who's not had a good run with catches of late, is on hand to take it with the reverse-cupped method. End of a fine innings.

Ben Thapa: This is an unbelievable innings from Sarfraz. Could go crazy now. Watch the windows, Sarfraz!

  12. Pak 198-5published at 42 overs

Possibly the most eventful over of the last hour? Hard to beat a batsman getting to a century, celebrating like he's just successfully asked someone to marry him, and then surviving an lbw decision. Plunkett the unlucky bowler in this over.

  13. Pak 197-5published at 13:26 British Summer Time 27 August 2016

He's saved! Replays show the ball missing leg stump by mere inches. My guess is Sarfraz stepping across the line may have prompted the umpire to give it, but it was pitched outside off, impact in line and just missing the stumps. Pakistan breathe again.

    Sarfraz 102 (Pak 197-5)

Sarfraz is trapped in front by Plunkett and the umpire gives it out. The batsman didn't take too long before asking for the review. Going down leg?

I haven't seen celebrations like since Nasser Hussain. It is a brilliant innings. They have 195 and Sarfraz has over half of them. He has played a constrained innings but there was nothing constrained about his celebration.

Take a bow! Or jump and punch the air in delight. Whatever you like. But cheer and chant for Sarfraz who guides a rising delivery from Plunkett back to fine leg for four and then runs off in celebration. Arms out wide a la Becks, then the jump and punch, and then the helmet comes off.

  17. Pak 191-5published at 41 overs

Does Sarfraz enjoy cleaning his house a lot? He keeps trying to sweep.

What? Fine, I'll stick to the day job. The right-hander gets down low to one knee and swings his bat out in front of him to send the ball away towards square for a score that adds one to his and to the overall total.

    See how boring that was?

It makes a huge difference as a spinner when you are delivering to a batsman who is operating under certain constraints.

  19. Pak 187-5published at 40 overs

    Sarfraz 95, Imad 26

Another excellent question. Let's have a cricket-swimming crossover and do away with that god-awful practice of wearing a full set of clothes. Pockets? Pah!

Imad cutting loose that little bit more now, targeting the mid-wicket area again as he swats Moeen Ali for four with a lofted shot. By the way, the partnership crossed 50 a short while ago.
