Pakistan had a shocker in the field, but in the face of an absolute onslaught like that, it's hardly surprising.

Stuart Mitchell: If Pakistan chase that down it would eclipse Australia vs SA as the best ever ODI. What an inns by England.

First Line: Geoffrey would still be saying "Wait till both sides have batted..."

If you've only been watching England in ODIs for a year you would think this was remarkable. If you saw them in the last World Cup you'd be worried you were about to realise you'd come to school for an exam without any pants on before waking up to find England struggling to 200.

Well, wasn't that fun? You can't see this but there is smoke coming off Amy's keyboard.

What a unbelievable, phenomenal, extraordinary (is that enough?) performance that was from England. A true, true pleasure to watch.

That. Was. Ridiculous. I'm off for a lie down to process everything. I'll leave you in the more than capable hands of Phil Dawkes.

It's been quite staggering what we have seen. I am so, so glad for Jos Buttler that he could take them over the line. It's nice that these two did what they did over the last two overs. It is an unbelievable achievement.

  11. That's a record - Eng 444-3published at 50 overs

    Buttler 90 (51 balls), Morgan 57 (27)

Last ball. Does history beckon? It does! Buttler blasts Hasan over extra cover and ENGLAND HAVE BROKEN THE RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST TOTAL IN ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL CRICKET!

  12. Eng 440-3published at 49.5 overs

Another swing and a miss from Buttler! This is good stuff from Hasan, while Buttler finds himself on his backside after overbalancing. One to go...

  13. Eng 440-3published at 49.4 overs

The crowd roars as Buttler regains the strike, Hasan bowls one just inside the tramlines... it's wideish, but not enough to be called a wide, and Buttler can't connect. Two balls left.

  14. Eng 440-3published at 49.3 overs

Hasan bowls a decent length delivery, Morgan swings and misses and they jog through for a bye. Tremendous noise from the crowd as Buttler readies himself...

  15. Eng 439-3published at 49.2 overs

Morgan, smarting from that blow from his batting partner, can't get his bat on a wide yorker from Hasan. Dot ball. Four needed to equal history.

  16. Eng 439-3published at 49.1 overs

Hasan gets the rather thankless task of bowling the final over, and Buttler smashes the ball straight into his captain's arm! That must have hurt, although Morgan is waving it off like it was nothing. Buttler smashed that! He looks a little miffed that his captain has cost him two runs there.

When one thing goes wrong, it all goes wrong. Pakistan's fielding has been poor, but England's batting has been phenomenal.

  18. Eng 438-3published at 49 overs

Amir bowls back of a length and beats Buttler's hard swing. That was quick too, just a shade over 90mph. Buttler then goes on to the back foot to steal a single and keep the strike for the final over. Amir finishes with 0-72 which, in the grand scheme of things, is pretty economical.

  19. Eng 437-3published at 48.4 overs

England are up to number six in the all-time ODI innings list..., external make that number five as Buttler slashes a low full toss from middle and leg stump over extra cover for four! A couple more plundered through the covers leaves them six short of the world record.

I think England have just tied the record for the most boundaries in an ODI with 58.
