  1. Goodnightpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

Well that's us for the day. If you want to find out more about each of the games, scroll back down here, read one of the marvelously written reports on our website, or just look at the scorecard.

I'm off for a long lie down and will be back tomorrow. Anyone for anymore wickets?

  2. Close at Cardiffpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Glouchestershire 62-3 v Glamorgan 220

Bad light ends play with one over left and the BBC local radio team are laughing...

Nick Selman's century for Glamorgan is the highlight of the day.

  3. Postpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Gloucestershire 61-3 v Gamorgan 220

Only game left going on is at Cardiff, where Gloucestershire are plodding along rather nicely. Although I think everyone might be looking at their watches and thinking 'are we still going on?!'.

  4. Get involved #bbccricketpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Summed up everything there Kevin.

Peter Moores named new Notts head coach, Ball's hat-trick and the ridiculous nature of the match at Taunton are the main talking points from today.

  5. Close at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Middlesex 9-3 v Notts 241

This match looked to be going so well for Division One leaders Middlesex, until they came out to bat.

Jake Ball took a hat-trick in the first over of the visitors' innings in his bid to never buy a pint in Yorkshire again.

The only other hat-trick this season was by Craig Miles, for Gloucestershire against Essex in July.

  6. Close at Beckenhampublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Northants 31-0 v Kent 230

All in all a decent day for Northants, and Essex...

  7. Close of playpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Sussex 182-7 v Leicestershire 135

It's all over for the first day too at Grace Road, where Leicestershire have recovered well after a pretty disastrous batting display.

Sussex were 82-0 at one point, but despite the best efforts of Chris Nash (65), the visitors have been pegged back thanks to five wickets from Neil Dexter.

  8. Close at Tauntonpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 41-1 & 95 v Warwickshire

Twenty-one wickets have fallen on day one of a bonkers match at Taunton.

Somerset go into the second day with a 13-run lead in their second innings, having opened the batting at 10:30 BST this morning.

Dom Bess will be the big talking point, the Somerset spinner taking six wickets on his Championship debut.

  9. Close at Yorkshirepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 341-5 v Durham

Yorkshire will head back into the dressing room not only on a high from their performance on the field today, but the situation at Trent Bridge.

At Headingley though, it was all about Alex Lees' season-best 132 as they piled on the runs against Durham.

  10. Done and dustedpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 260-6 v Hampshire

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at The Oval

"It's all over red Rover at The Oval after a third interruption for bad light did for the day's play.

"Before it did, we were treated to a fine century from Surrey opener Rory Burns, whose discipline and application of shot selection against the moving ball made his second Championship century of the summer one to appreciate.

"Hampshire will be glad to have broken his near five-hour stint at the crease just one run after he reached those three figures but perhaps disappointed overall that their pursuit of valuable wickets and bowling bonus points didn't produce more than just six scalps."

  11. Jake Ball's on firepublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Middlesex 2-3 v Notts 241

Jake Ball's former Nottinghamshire team-mate James Taylor there, after Ball took the first hat-trick at Trent Bridge by a Nottinghamshire player - apart from Stuart Broad for England - since Paul Franks in 1997.

  12. Postpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Northants 22-0 v Kent 230

    BBC Radio Northampton's Alex Winter:

"An excellent day this for Northamptonshire. They've produced a fine collective bowling display - as a whole unit, perhaps their best of the season - to bowl Kent out cheaply.

"There have been some low scoring games here in the past and Kent will hope that cobbling 230 could yet be a useful score. But if the sun burns through tomorrow, Northants will hope to push onto a good lead."

WICKET Compton (lbw b Ball) 0published at 17:39 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Middlesex 0-3 v Notts 241

    JAKE BALL HAS A FIRST-OVER HAT-TRICK!

Excuse my excitement, but Ball has totally changed the complexion of this match.

Nick Compton, a man clearly not ready to bat this evening, has been found leg before by Ball. Absolutely nuts at Trent Bridge.

  14. wicket

WICKET Rayner (lbw b Ball) 0published at 17:35 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Middlesex 0-2 v Notts 241

Oh my. Oh my. Could this evening be pivotal in the title race?

As Yorkshire plod along nicely on 333-5 against Durham, their Division One title challengers Middlesex are having an absolute Weston-Super-Mare.

Jake Ball traps Ollie Rayner first ball and Notts are doing everything they can to avoid relegation this week.

  15. wicket

WICKET Robson (c Mullaney b Ball) 0published at 17:34 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Middlesex 0-1 v Notts 241

You can hear the cheers from Headingley.

Steven Mullaney has taken a very smart catch to dismiss Sam Robson and Division One leaders Middlesex are in for a nervy few final overs of the day at Trent Bridge.

  16. Colly's daypublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 327-5 v Durham

Not bad for 40-year-old Paul Collingwood...

  17. wicket

WICKET Abell (lbw b Poysden) 15published at 17:28 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 31-1 & 95 v Warwickshire 132

The previous best two partnerships of this match were ended on 31 runs, and this one follows suit.

Tom Abell is found leg before and Chris Rogers comes out to join Marcus Trescothick. Might have brought out a nightwatchman if the match was in any other situation.

  18. Somerset leadpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 30-0 & 95 v Warwickshire 132

A quick two for Marcus Trescothick, well, as quickly as the 40-year-old can run, gives Somerset a lead in this bonkers match.

  19. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 260-6 v Hampshire

And they're off again at The Oval. Will they have the chance to get back out again?

  20. wicket

WICKET AND ALL OUT Tahir (c Eskinazi b Murtagh) 5published at 17:23 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Notts 241 v Middlesex

Middlesex have seven overs to face this evening after Imran Tahir attempts to whack Tim Murtagh down the ground, but instead edges to third man.
