  1. wicket

    WICKET Davies (c & b Clarke) 16published at 12:22 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 69-9 v Warwickshire

Rikki Clarke must have been sick of Keith Barker hogging all the attention. Clarke has his third victim of the morning session, removing young wicketkeeper Ryan Davies caught and bowled, and I can see this innings ending very shortly.

Elsewhere, Kent opener Daniel Bell-Drummond is caught behind for 20 against Northants and his side are now 62-1.

We asked for your American-related cricketers and boy have you delivered so far. It's almost as if you've been deep fried and served with an extra side of calories.

  3. wicket

WICKET Bess (c Mellor b Clarke) 13published at 12:09 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 66-8 v Warwickshire

It would have been a big ask for Championship debutant Dominic Bess to bring Somerset from the depths against Warwickshire and he hasn't.

I've run out of ways to describe this innings. Ridiculous? Carnage?

If they don't reach 79, this will be Somerset's fifth-lowest total against Warwickshire.

  4. wicket

WICKET Sangakkara (c McManus b Andrew) 26published at 12:03 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 69-2 v Hampshire

Kevan said Hampshire needed to make regular inroads into the Surrey batting and they have done just that 10 minutes after he said it.

Gareth Andrew's seventh wicket of the season is a big one, as Kumar Sagakkara is caught by Lewis McManus off his bowling - the wicketkeeper's second catch of the morning.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Selmanpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Glamorgan 76-3 v Gloucestershire

Nick Selman, dropped in the first over of this match, has reached fifty for the third time this season in the Championship.

    Meanwhile, for Yorkshire against Durham...

Not bad considering Alex Lees lost his opening partner Adam Lyth for just two.

  6. wicket

WICKET Mullaney (c Rayner b Finn) 22published at 11:54 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Notts 57-3 v Middlesex

Good news for England as Steven Finn has his second wicket of the day as Steven Mullaney is caught at second slip off the big fast bowler's bowling.

Title challengers Middlesex and Yorkshire are going rather well this morning - with the White Rose 86-1 against Durham.

  7. Overcast conditionspublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 53-1 v Hampshire

    BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James:

"It would have been a difficult decision this morning for Hampshire to exercise their right to bowl first.

"We have cloudy but warm conditions here at the Oval, and the home side have two good swing bowlers in Footitt and Sam Curran.

"The ball has seamed around this morning, particularly for Gareth Berg.

"The problem for Hampshire is that this ground is also good for batting on, and if they don't make regular inroads into the Surrey batting, they risk putting themselves on the back foot.

"The feeling in the camp is that they need to win this one to have a chance of staying up. If Surrey get too many in the first innings, Hants will be staring even more at Division Two cricket come Friday."

  9. Wicket elsewherepublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Leicestershire 55-2 v Sussex

News of a wicket somewhere other than Taunton? I know, it's a shock to me too.

  10. wicket

WICKET Gregory (c Mellor b Clarke) 4published at 11:44 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 46-7 v Warwickshire

This is just getting ridiculous at Taunton now.

Rikki Clarke replaces Chris Wright in the bowling and with his first delivery has Lewis Gregory caught behind.

The next batsman up - Championship debutant Dominic Bess. Don't think he expected to be in this early.

    Good luck, lad.

    Something other than a wicket!!!

  12. Moores appointed Notts head coachpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

If you haven't heard the news coming out of Trent Bridge this morning - former England coach Peter Moores has been appointed Nottinghamshire head coach on a three-year deal.

  13. wicket

WICKET van der Merwe (c Clarke b Barker) 0published at 11:32 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 36-6 v Warwickshire

This live text has just become a sea of blue.

I said losing four wickets in the first hour was bad enough but Keith Barker has added an extra two to that total.

  14. wicket

WICKET Moores (b Finn) 16published at 11:27 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Notts 35-2 v Middlesex

    Wickets. Wickets. Wickets.

His father may have been named at Notts' new head coach this morning, but Tom Moores has been bowled by Steven Finn - or Steve - as the scorecard at Trent Bridge calls him.

Another big wicket in terms of the Division One title race.

  15. wicket

WICKET Trego (b Barker) 4published at 11:27 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 36-5 v Warwickshire

The fans are being treated to a bowling masterclass at Taunton as Keith Barker continues his mission to cause smoke to flow out of my fingers as I give you updates on his side's latest victim.

Trego is bowled by Barker and at this rate Warwickshire could be batting early in the afternoon.

  16. wicket

WICKET Sibley (c McManus b Berg) 11published at 11:22 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 23-1 v Hampshire

Hampshire seamer Gareth Berg, a man that missed much of this season through injury, has the first wicket of the match against Surrey as Dominic Sibley edges him straight into the hands of Lewis McManus.

  17. wicket

WICKET Abell (c Mellor b Wright) 20published at 11:21 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 36-4 v Warwickshire

Oh Somerset. Four wickets lost within the first hour is never the way to start a match.

Tom Abell, the only man to get out of single figures so far, has been caught behind and is Chris Wright's second victim of the day.

  18. Kent v Northamptonshirepublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Kent 28-0 v Northants

    xImage source, BBC Sport

    BBC Radio Northampton's Alex Winter:

"Don't let them tell you it's south London here in Beckenham, we're playing cricket and it's very much Kent. The ground has been improved smartly since my last visit in 2009 - a mighty indoor school has been built and a new permanent stand erected, making it an impressive facility here and one that Kent will surely be using for many years to come.

"To the chagrin of those supporters of the Tunbridge Wells festival perhaps.

"On the field, Kent are still in the hunt for promotion and need to win this game to stay in touch with Essex - whom they host in the final round of matches.

"They were invited to bat here by Alex Wakely but so far there's been little in it for the bowlers. Kent have perhaps been handed a great chance to get on top."

  19. wicket

WICKET Hildreth (c Bell b Barker) 9published at 11:15 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Somerset 28-3 v Warwickshire

The superb start from Warwickshire just gets better as James Hildreth edges Keith Barker to third slip and in a match that doesn't have any real impact on either end of the table we have quite a bit of entertainment.

That's Barker's 51st wicket of the season. Why do you I tell you that random number? Because I forgot to mention his 50th earlier...

  20. In Division Twopublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Glamorgan 35-1 v Gloucestershire

Glamorgan have lost a wicket, but it's not the dangerously-living Nick Selman; it's his opening partner Mark Wallace who has gone lbw to David Payne.

Leicestershire have recovered following the early loss of Paul Horton to 19-1 while Kent are plodding along rather nicely on 24-0 against Northants.

With leaders Essex not in action, second-placed Kent know they have to do all they can to keep up the pressure in the hunt for the the single promotion spot.
