  1. wicket

    WICKET (Bell c & b Bess) 0published at 14:54 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Warwickshire 62-3 v Somerset 95 all out

Two in two for young spinner Dom Bess!

Ian Bell replaces Jonathan Trott at the crease and first ball prods one right back at Bess.

Can he get a hat-trick? Sam Hain survives...

  2. wicket

WICKET Trott (c Trescothick b Bess) 10published at 14:52 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Warwickshire 62-2 v Somerset 95 all out

Dom Bess will certainly remember his first-ever Championship wicket. The Somerset debutant's maiden victim is former England batsman Jonathan Trott, out top edging to Marcus Trescothick in the slips.

  3. Taylor strikes for Glos after Selman tonpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Glamorgan 177-7 v Gloucestershire

BBC Wales' Nick Webb in Cardiff:

"Craig Miles and Matt Taylor have taken two wickets each in the afternoon session as Gloucestershire got back on top in cloudy conditions.

"Nick Selman reached a composed century off 144 balls, his second in first-class cricket, only to be bowled by Taylor the next ball.

"But the only stand of consequence has been 65 between Selman and Aneurin Donald, who hit 36 off 30 balls before mis-hooking Miles to mid-on."

  4. wicket

WICKET Davies (c Smith b Wheal) 32published at 14:44 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 144-4 v Hampshire

Big wicket for Hampshire as Brad Wheal sends Steven Dangerous back to the pavilion. That could swing the game in the visitors' favour. Or it might not. Who knows?

  5. wicket

WICKET Gale (b Onions) 17published at 14:44 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 194-3 v Durham

Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale has been struggling for Championship runs this summer, averaging just 22.47, and he is bowled around the legs by Graham Onions.

He got himself in a pickle. (How many times has that joke been made?)

  6. The stats keep coming...published at 14:43 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Warwickshire 59-1 v Somerset 95

Ian Westwood and Jonathan Trott are going along well in the context of this match, currently taking Warwickshire to 59-1, 36 runs behind.

And we all love rubbing things in the Aussies' faces, don't we? So, a little bit more of info on the last time a side was dismissed on the first morning of a game.

Somerset captain Chris Rogers was also playing on that fateful day for Australia against England 13 months ago.

He got a third-ball duck that day at Trent Bridge, to start the rot, and he lasted just eight balls today, for a single!

  7. Selman 100 and outpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Glamorgan 172-6 v Gloucestershire

Nick Selman, dropped in the first over against Gloucestershire, makes his second century of the season and is then immediately out the next ball having been bowled through the gate by Matt Taylor.

    Still, a great knock.

  8. Leicestershire all outpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Leicestershire 135 v Sussex

Steve Magoffin may have five wickets for the innings, and you can't keep him out of the action even when he's not bowling.

He has taken the catch of Ned Eckersley and the Leicestershire innings is over, having lost their last seven wickets for 45 runs.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Taylor (b Gubbins b Roland-Jones) 30published at 14:22 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Nottinghamshire 117-5 v Middlesex

Nottinghamshire's innings is beginning to fall apart now as Brendan Taylor is caught at point off Toby Roland-Jones. Middlesex have seen Yorkshire's innings and are trying to raise them.

Meanwhile, in the Surrey v Hampshire game . . .

  10. wicket

WICKET Ballance (c Collingwood b McCarthy) 71published at 14:19 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 171-2 v Durham

Paul Collingwood may be a sub wicketkeeper but he has taken a brilliant catch to dismiss Gary Ballance.

Maybe Michael Richardson's injury is a blessing in disguise? Sorry, Michael.

  12. Jofra on firepublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Leicestershire 121-9 v Sussex

Sussex's Barbados-born seamer Jofra Archer may only be playing his fifth ever County Championship match but he is having a real impact on the game against Leicestershire.

  13. Lees reaches 1,000published at 14:09 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 158-1 v Durham

Alex Lees has passed 1,000 runs for the County Championship season as the Division One title challengers are plodding along rather nicely at Headingley.

Durham need to get one of him or Gary Ballance out soon or else this could get out of hand.

  15. In, outpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Surrey 97-3 v Hampshire

They are back out at The Oval after a delay for bad light that didn't last very long.

  16. Colly the wicketkeeperpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Yorkshire 144-1 v Durham

Alex Lees (72) and Gary Ballance (62) are performing superbly for Yorkshire against Durham at Headingley, so the last thing the visitors needed was an injury to their wicketkeeper.

But that's just what's happened. Paul Collingwood has the 'honour' of stepping in.

  17. wicket

WICKET Mellor (c Bess b Groenewald) 20published at 13:55 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Warwickshire 31-1 v Somerset 95

What a superb catch from Championship debutant Dom Bess.

Alex Mellor has been so positive in his innings - clearly having been told to have a go at Somerset's bowlers - but is out to a brilliant one-handed diving catch from Bess at midwicket. The ball looked to have gone behind him. He'll remember his first game in the Championship for that.

  18. Northants finding swingpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Kent 90-4 v Northants

    BBC Radio Northampton's Alex Winter:

"It was a proper morning's cricket with the home opening batsman battling against tight first bursts from the visitors' attack.

"Northants have been a little wayward with the ball this season but here appear to right on it and as the innings as gone on, they have found a little swing under quite heavy skies on a muggy day and batting has become trickier.

"A couple of strikes in the 15 minutes to lunch sent Northants to their pasta/beef pie/minute steak in good shape but two wickets in two balls for Azharullah on resumption has the visitors on top. Kent have lost 4 for 26 either side of the break."

  19. wicket

WICKET Lumb (c Gubbins b Rayner) 23published at 13:51 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Nottinghamshire 87-4 v Middlesex

Michael Lumb is a desperately unlucky man.

The Nottinghamshire batsman punches a backfoot delivery from Ollie Rayner into the midriff of silly point  and the hosts are struggling against the Division One leaders now.

  20. Record-partnership...published at 13:47 British Summer Time 6 September 2016

    Warwickshire 27-0 v Somerset 95

Warwickshire opening pair Ian Westwood and Alex Mellor have already made the biggest partnership of the match with 27. It only took 23 balls to do it...

Somerset’s score is only the second lowest all-out total of the Championship season in Division One.

Beaten by a run, by Yorkshire, who bowled out struggling Notts for 94 at Scarborough in August.
