  1. Umpire reviewpublished at 27.1 overs

    Eng 123-6

    Cheers Amy.

My first act back in the chair is to tell you Bangladesh have reviewed an lbw appeal against Buttler, turned down by the umpire on the field. This is going to be close. This could be the game.

  2. Eng 122-6published at 27 overs

Buttler has been joined by Woakes, and the pair jog a few singles. Nasir's dropped a tad too short and he knows it. He kicks the ground in frustration.

Time for me to leave you in Phil's very capable hands.

Oh, Moeen. That's an ugly way to get out. A big heave across the line sends the ball starlight into the air. It's up there for a long time and Shakib takes a brilliant diving catch. In fact he's grabbed that over one shoulder. Brilliant composure.

Mark Dexter: At Headingley as a Mexican Wrestler. Late in the day minus mask and cape a chap said 'you're just a bloke in tights'. Point taken.

Steven Gordon: To complete a Shaun of the Dead look I had to improvise a card + wooden spatula cricket bat as a real one wasn't allowed

  5. Eng 120-5 (target 239)published at 26 overs

What a delivery! Taskin, out of nowhere, gets a cutter to bounce and rise. And it keeps rising, just past Buttler's wafted drive and through to the keeper. Get that length wrong, though, and both these batsmen will slap it away. Taskin readjusts, and Moeen picks up four byes from his hip.

  6. Eng 112-5published at 25 overs

Moeen is off the mark with a gentle push to cover. Buttler keeps the strike with a shot to mid-on. All eyes on the stand-in skipper now.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Buttlerpublished at 24.2 overs

    Eng 109-5

Such ridiculously good timing from Buttler. He's down the pitch to Nasir and whips him off his legs and to the mid-wicket boundary for four. He didn't even get to the full pitch of that. That's his half-century brought up from 48 balls. Just the seven boundaries in that 50 too...

That partnership was worth 79 runs, Moeen's in at seven and gets an awkward one first up that he has to defend down to point. The crowd ramp the noise up again as Moeen blocks through the over.

The change works for Bangladesh! Taskin bowls a cracker of a delivery that bounces late and Bairstow can't resist having a nibble. He throws a drive at it, nicks it and Mushfiqur takes a good catch. There's no celebration from the keeper, but then England have got a long tail.

Jamie McCormack: This lad can bat. @josbuttler, external swinging like Babe Ruth here. #swat, external

Ian H: Does Mr Ali get to open in the next match with the 3rd keeper getting a go down the order?

T: Jos Buttler has shown more of a leadership skill in this game than Morgan ever has since becoming captain.

  12. Eng 104-4published at 23 overs

Bairstow shows all three stumps to Nasir as a delivery keeps low and grips, but he works it into the leg side for a single. Bangladesh could probably bring their field in a little, try to stop England working these singles. The visitors need another 135 runs to win.

  13. Eng 101-4published at 22 overs

That's the 100 up for England, courtesy of an overthrow. These two are seriously impressive in their running. They respond quickly and it's no mean feat to keep pushing for those ones and twos in these conditions. There's sweat dripping out of Buttler's helmet whenever he takes his guard.

Bairstow's getting a little tied down here. A good looking sweep is cut off at backward point, and he swishes his bat in frustration. He manages to break the deadlock with a drop into the leg side and scampers a two.

  16. Eng 92-4published at 20 overs

Shafiul keeps finding that awkward short length that both Bairstow and Buttler can't resist having a swipe at. Bangladesh's fielding has also approved. A fine diving stop on the leg-side frustrates Buttler as he and Bairstow keep the score ticking along.

  17. 'Taskin could be used better'published at 15:17 British Summer Time 9 October 2016

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
    Ex-England batter

I feel like Bangladesh could use Taskin as a pace option better. Rather than bringing him on later when the ball is soft and potentially when the dew comes into play to make it easier for the batters, he should be used up front when the ball is hard and will get the best pace out of the pitch. Buttler is playing him with ease here.

  18. Eng 88-4published at 19 overs

On comes Nasir, fresh from his 69-run partnership with the captain earlier. He beats Bairstow all ends up with a straight one that spins under the batsman's defence. It skims over the stumps and past the keeper for byes. No-one knows how that missed the stumps - least of all Bairstow, who grins and shrugs at the bowler.

  19. 'Buttler looks the business'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 9 October 2016

    Charles Dagnall
    BBC Radio 5 live

Buttler looks in serious touch. Yes, he has power and innovation but his foot movement and quickness to pick up length, has been a delight so far.

  20. Eng 84-4 (target 239)published at 18 overs

The more I see of Buttler, the more I'm convinced that he's a batting robot dressed in human clothing. He has the most ridiculous array of shots. He's watching from the other end though, as Shaiful beats Bairstow's tentative prod forward.
