  1. 'Shocking start by England'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 9 October 2016

Shocking start by England - but I love what Mashrafe Mortaza is bringing to this game. He is bowling his dribbly swingers and he has got two wickets because Shakib has England's batsmen tied up at the other end.

  2. Eng 25-3published at 9 overs

There is a constant din of excitement and expectation now from this Dhaka crowd. Every ball has an air of a wicket. Just one run off another excellent Shakib over.

  3. Eng 24-3published at 8 overs

What now England? Ben Stokes is out to join Bairstow. These two need to stem the tide and quieten the crowd. The tourists have plenty of batting but this pressure is intense.

Now there's big trouble! Jason Roy tries to slap a straight ball from Mortaza over mid-on and is dead from the moment he misses the ball and it connects with his pad. He briefly chats with Bairstow about the prospect of a review but is quite rightly advised that the best course of action is to walk off.

Mortaza is motoring, Bangladesh are banging.

  5. Eng 18-2published at 7 overs

More probing questions from Shakib. Some skid, some turn, all of them are problems for Bairstow and the limping Roy as they look to steady a rocking ship.

  7. Eng 15-2published at 6 overs

Everything about England seems uncertain now - from the shots Roy is offering to Mortaza to their ability to now win this game.

It looks like the Bangladesh captain is rolling his fingers over the ball at times, looking for grip and cut to out-fox the England pair.

Roy tries a risky single and makes his ground just ahead of the throw. It looks like he may have tweaked something in doing so. Definitely not what the tourists need.

James Vince - yet to convince?

England have been extremely patient with Vince. I think he's had enough chances. He doesn't make big scores.

    Tony Cocozza, London

Mr Vince, we need 240 not 340!

No pressure Jonny! Bairstow, run out for nowt in the first ODI, is in and fends off his first ball - the last of the over. Shakib is doing a cracking job for the home side here. England need to dig deep.

Wow! That is a superb ball. Shakib gets one to grip and spin sharply straight through the huge gap between Duckett's pad and his swinging bat. The result is a set of broken stumps and England in trouble.

Many years ago at the Oval, me and my mates (dressed as cricket terminology) lost out in the  fancy dress competition to a bunch of city boys in Ben Sherman shirts and khaki shorts dressed as "pirates". Disgusted at being passed over, we crashed the prize giving and one of our group (on crutches) sledged Gatting (the judge on the day) with the line "Oi Gatts, I know you're useless at spotting a leg break but this takes the biscuit". We didn't look ridiculous, but the decision was!

One thing you can be absolutely certain of - if you are slightly off in any shot this crowd will let you know about it. Ben Duckett is the new man. He was very calm and composed in the first ODI. England need plenty of that now.

Vince's shaky innings comes to an early end. It is a poor shot and gets exactly what it deserves. The ball from Mortaza is just outside off stump and he throws the bat at it, slicing straight to Mosaddek at backward point.

Mortaza is having a cracking game.

Risky stuff from Vince, who throws the bat at Shakib and outside edges aerially through the vacant backward point area for four. These two just need to settle here. It is all a bit frenetic.

Big appeal from the keeper. He thinks he may have Roy stumped. The replay shows the opener managed to get his toe back in. These are nervy times for England.

  17. Eng 6-0published at 2 overs

Fresh from giving his side a chance here with the bat, skipper Mashrafe Mortaza takes the new ball from the other end. Vince prods tentatively, Roy swings hard. The former is almost run out last ball after tucking the ball to leg and setting off. Had the throw hit, he was gone by a mile. I'm not sure where he thought he'd hit it - it went straight to the man at mid-wicket.

Having survived the early scare, Roy gets the chase up and running with a couple of twos.

  20. Eng 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Big shout! Everyone in the crowd is up! First ball from spinner Shakib skids on and flicks Roy's pad. The umpire is unmoved. Possibly going over.
