The Barmy Army and more like a Barmy Battalion here. The majority have opted not to travel after taking advice over security. One staunch group sit in the stand, getting a bit pink. Taijul twirls his way through another cheap over. He's been largely binary throughout today.
Mehedi gets a deserved rest. Bangladesh don't abandon the spin strategy, though, as part-time leggie Sabbir Rahman comes on. He doesn't offer anything particularly threatening but he does take us an over closer to the availability of a new ball. Four away.
We're in a bit of a lull now as England consolidate to keep out the pretty tame Taijul. He is not getting anywhere near the turn generated by Mehedi.
Mehedi 28-5-57-4
There is a scattering of home fans now, leaned up against the fence on the edge of the ground. Everyone else is moving with the shade to stay out of the oppressive sun. Imagine how Mehedi feels. He's 28 overs deep today and still twirling away. He keeps England to two, with Bairstow poking one of them to leg to edge a bit closer to a half-century and to 2,000 runs in Test cricket.

It's going to be a fascinating game. There is consistent spin.

Re Emma’s comment on Graeme Duckett, Ben's dad and quality left-handers, Graeme was in fact a right-hander who played with me at Dulwich in the 80s!
Andrew Walker
Maiden from Taijul. Nothing particularly testing for Woakes but he is understandably taking a conservative approach to the start of his innings.

I think Bangladesh is as cricket-mad as India, at the very least. I wonder how they are all watching it because there's not too many satellite dishes on houses over here. It must be on free-to-air. The local children love their cricket - they're going to be a very, very good side one day.
Woakes 6, Bairstow 43
Bairstow is fortunate as he goes to sweep and top-edges into space. He was early on that. Nearly 100 balls in and he is still not 100% attuned to the conditions. Just shows the testing nature of the pitch and bowling.
It was only ever going to be a cameo from seamer Shafiul. We are back to double spin with Taijul back into the attack. Woakes is handed a present with a short ball he is able to rock back to and cross bat to the rope. The burgers are back on TV. That meat doesn't look right. I'm not surprised the tray is still full.

Mehedi is 18 years old and he's been the pick of the bowlers. I've been looking, he can bat too. He's got a perfectly orthodox action, he's spun the ball more than anyone.
Oh, Woakes didn't have a clue. Mehedi lands one just short of a length and the ball goes right through the gate, missing stumps and keeper and running away to the rope. That shot is a recipe for a dismissal on a track like this, to a bowler with the quality of Mehedi. The byes take the tourists to 200, which at one stage this morning looked a very unlikely total.

Richard: Shame for Moeen, but a well battled 68. Surely anything around 250 is going to be a good score on this wicket.
Adam Gilbert: Moeen's 68 feels like a double century here.
Woakes 1, Bairstow 39
Chris Woakes is the new man. The all-rounder pats back three Shafiul deliveries before getting off the mark with a single after getting in a big stride and pushing wide of mid-on. These overs are feeling more and more like just fillers before Mehedi returns.

Bangladesh have got themselves a really classy young bowler, he got a bit of flight, he brought Moeen forward with just that bit of turn at the end. Moeen really helped England fight back but it's now one of those stages where England need someone to follow up.
Moeen c Mushfiqur b Mehedi 68 (Eng 194-6)
I can't quite believe what I'm seeing. Moeen is actually out. Five reviews couldn't budge him but now he has to go. It has taken a superb ball from young Mehedi to do it as he lands one in the corridor, gets it to turn away and catch an edge before nestling in the gloves of keeper Mushfiqur. An innings that was sometimes bonkers, occasionally brilliant, comes to an end.
Tough task getting a Mexican Wave going in Chittagong today...
A swing and a miss from Moeen as Shafiul whips a darting ball past the attempted drive. Bairstow then misses out with an attempted pull, which he bottom-edges to deep square leg.

Reece Williams: Why all the negativity? We all know England like a top order collapse. Gets our best batsmen in early. Well played boys
