Good luck playing that first ball Mominul. Batty lands the ball short of a length, drawing forward the batsman, who has to quickly straighten up as it pops against his chest. No such problems with the third ball, which if full on leg and swept away for four.

It might not be pressing on Alastair Cook's mind yet - but it should be... there is a glimmer of a possibility of a new ball. It's in England's interests that they get through their overs quickly so they have more time with that new ball when it comes very late on tonight.

It's the approach that I am enjoying because they have scored 46 runs in 12 overs.
Mominul 5, Imrul 25
There are things happening every ball. Turn, bounce, edges, gloves, shouts and also, from one of them, a very well-played reverse sweep shot from Imrul for four. This is a very good start for Bangladesh.

Every ball is a trial for the batsman at the moment. There's a lot of bounce and signs of wear in the pitch.

England stay with the initial plan as Batty continues. Pressure firmly back on Bangladesh now after the loss of Tamim. Mominul gets off the mark with a very lucky boundary, coming from a top-edge from a very loose, wafty cut shot. His early jitters continue with a forward defensive shot that almost goes to the right hand of the diving Stokes at slip.

England are in a very strong position. Alastair Cook put the fielder in the right place for Tamim there - it hit the edge and flew straight to the fielder.
In comes Mominul, who is on a pair. He stays on one as well as his first ball spins past his outside edge. Mominul actually averages 100 from five Tests on this ground. He has scored three centuries.
Tamim c Ballance b Moeen 9 (Ban 35-1)
That IS out. England have their man. Big inside edge on to the pad from Tamim and Ballance takes the catch.
Ban 35-0
After all that, Ultraedge shows that the ball hit nothing on the way through. And England have lost a review for some reason. I thought that was an umpire review?

That would have been a quite remarkable catch.
Ban 35-0
Now then, pick the bones out of this! England could have made a breakthrough. They think Tamim has edged this and then has been caught after Root drops it and then claims it after it lands on his boot and then hand. It will be a remarkable dismissal if it is out.

England's best fieldder - Ben Stokes - would have got to that, but it was a tough chance.
Ban 34-0
Haseeb Hameed is going to see some action this Test. He is on as a sub fielder. He is quickly into the game as Tamim dances down and lofts the ball over him at mid-off. He turns and gets a fingernail to it as it drops safe. Tough chance but a chance nonetheless.

The last spin bowler to open the bowling for England in two innings of a Test match was Sam Staples, against South Africa in Durban in 1928., external
Two slips, short leg and short cover in as Moeen continues. He finds the perfect length with a ball that turns sharply away from Imrul. Get one of those to skid on and England are in business.

This is the seventh lowest target Bangladesh have ever been set in Test cricket - twice they have won chasing higher totals, once they lost and three were draws after nominal declarations.

England are gifting Bangladesh too many easy runs here. Batty veers down leg again and is steered away for a couple of singles. Imrul gets the sweep out to add another two, with Gary Ballance tumbling after collecting the ball. Nervous yet?

It's rare for Bangladesh to have a carrot of victory like this - in fact it's unique against the top Test nations if you discount West Indies.
