  1. Ban 176-3published at 39 overs

Ansari briefly left the field after his last over but he's fine to continue. He gets one to spin sharply but it'll fly away for four byes down the leg side. Ansari's getting turn but his line isn't at its best this morning. He spears a few more down leg before Shakib, on the wander, manages to get back into his crease before Bairstow can whip the bails off.

Bangladesh could have been nervous about collapsing but they've looked pretty composed apart from that one chance. Shakib has not played any eccentric shots so far.

  3. Ban 169-3published at 38 overs

Courtney Walsh, the Bangladesh bowling coach, is celebrating his 53rd birthday today. Some fans have brought a banner in to celebrate. Moeen continues, persevering with the full balls. There's another shout for lbw against Shakib. Bairstow's keen, Moeen's not sure - I think Shakib got just enough bat on that. He's very deep in his crease, though.

  4. Ban 167-3published at 37 overs

Ansari gets another one to spin in from that rough by Shakib's foot, and there's a big ol' appeal. It struck him high on the back pad, so that's not out. Shakib scampers a single off the last ball, and comes perilously close to running himself out.

It was a tough chance but England can't really afford to miss those. Cook doesn't drop many - he'll be furious. He's caught trickier ones than that, even in this game.

Cook's dropped Kayes! Kayes tries to steer Ansari past leg slip and a helmeted Cook, diving to his left, gets one hand to it but he can't cling on. Ansari turns away, covering his face. I suppose you can't really look too annoyed when it's the captain that drops it, can you? Cook's not impressed with his own effort as he swipes at the turf.

Here every England spinner has had a bit of treatment from the batsmen and when you look at the quality of the India line-up it makes you think they could be in some trouble.

  8. Ban 165-3published at 36 overs

There's a half-appeal for an lbw against Shakib as he misses a fuller Moeen delivery, but neither the umpire or the review committee are interested in that. Moeen's getting some turn. Shakib misjudges successive balls that spin past his bat and into Bairstow's gloves, leaving Moeen oohing and aahing. Decent over.

Zafar Ansari is the first Oxbridge player to take a Test wicket since Andrew Whitall of Zimbabwe in 1999.

The face paint and tiger onesies are out in action again - it's an enthusiastic crowd, despite today being a work day. That's a bit too full and wide from Ansari, and Shakib drives back past the bowler for a boundary. Ansari follows it up with a bit of rubbish down the leg side that Shakib, rather than smashing, watches drift past his hip.

  11. Ban 159-3published at 34 overs

That's a better over from Moeen, with Shakib playing deep in his crease before prodding forward to defend. He's aiming to crash it through the covers for a single, but he can't beat the fielders. Moeen tosses the last delivery up and Shakib blocks it with the outside edge. That's a maiden.

  12. Ban 159-3published at 33 overs

    Lead by 134

Ansari will continue, and Kayes scampers a single to get Shakib on strike. How will he play? He was subdued in the first innings, scoring 10 from 32 deliveries. He goes back to a shorter ball that brings a shout from those around the bat, but Shakib got an inside edge onto that one.

We've had some superb fashions on display from our TMS team, from Athar's bow ties to Daggers' broken flip flops, but Vic is winning the stakes this morning.

If you bowl long-hops like that one from Moeen, how do you create pressure? You have to create pressure on the batsman.

  15. Ban 157-3published at 32 overs

Moeen will bowl first up, and he beats Kayes with his second delivery. Bairstow gives an almighty yell, thinking he's stumped him, but the umpires don't even bother going upstairs. Bairstow was hoping Kayes was going to stroll out of the crease, but that back foot is grounded. Moeen drops short - too short, and Kayes cuts aerially to get his first boundary of the day.

Chris Woakes, as you would as a player, said England could chase 250 but if Bangladesh set 250 you would think they would be favourites because the wicket is still doing a bit. It’s a cracking day’s cricket in store, we don’t know the victor and overall it’s been a far more interesting series than we expected.

The umpires are on the way out, closely followed by the players, as Stokes tosses the ball from hand to hand. It is roasting hot out there.

I'd certainly give the ball to Moeen. He has bowled well to Shakib throughout the series, and he has another left-hander there. I wouldn't play Stokes too much if he's not doing anything - he is your trump card for later.

  19. Ansari wickets were 'well deserved'published at 03:55 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Zafar Ansari snared his first two wickets in international cricket yesterday as he dismissed Tamim and then Mahmudullah with the last ball of the day.

"I know when you make your debut its not an easy thing," Chris Woakes told TMS.

"It’s a big confidence booster for him. You feel like there’s a lot of pressure on you.

"It probably didn’t go as well as he liked in the first innings but its well deserved."

  20. Root 'fine' to play todaypublished at 03:52 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Joe Root was missing from the field yesterday afternoon, but according to those in the know out in Dhaka, he should be okay to play today.

Jos Buttler fielded for much of the afternoon while Root recovered from a stomach illness.
