  1. Eng 425-5published at 118 overs

Beautiful stroke again from Stokes, down the ground to Mishra and driving forcefully through extra cover for his ninth four. Bairstow cuts another boundary, his fifth, to go with two sixes.

India are still in the Diwali mood, giving gifts. That second Saha drop off Stokes was almost identical to the first one. There were three dropped catches in the first half an hour yesterday and that set the tone. India's fielding has not been up to Test standard.

  3. Eng 416-5published at 117 overs

There's a rarity, an over without a boundary or a dropped catch, just a single for Stokes off the beleaguered Yadav. Now earlier I mentioned that England have the four leading run-scorers in Test cricket this year. They are; Bairstow, Root, Cook and Moeen.

Bairstow is such an ideal man to come in at number seven, he thumps Mishra over the in-field to the cover boundary and then collects his fourth four with an authoritative clip through mid-wicket, leaving the bowler to sweep his thinning hair back in exasperated fashion.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Stokes on 61published at 115 overs

    Eng 407-5

Another reprieve for Stokes - and again wicketkeeper Saha is the guilty party. The left-hander plays a scything cut at Yadav, the little man gets both gloves to it as his dives to his left, but it spills out of the gauntlets.

  8. Eng 404-5published at 114 overs

    Stokes 61, Bairstow 29

Sharp spin from Mishra, it also kept a little low, and it beats everything, trickling away for four byes. We all ruminate in here how Rashid might fare on this wicket with a big first innings score to bowl to.

The frustrating thing for the bowler and captain is that they set that up. The plan worked, but the crucial part of it didn't.

  10. dropped catch

Dropped catch - Stokes on 60published at 113 overs

    Eng 400-5

I can sense some disparaging thoughts about that Gary Ballance  tweet. Yadav returns, which at least allows more time to write. He has a ring of three fielders, all around 20 yards from the bat, from wide slip to just in front of square, but it is the wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha who spills a chance from the dangerous Stokes, low to his left. England reach 400.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 395-5published at 112 overs

Another mighty strike from Bairstow and Mishra is dispatched many a mile over cow corner for six more, which brings up the fifty partnership from 69 balls.

  14. Eng 387-5published at 111 overs

    Stokes 59, Bairstow 18

A seventh four for Stokes but he is then deceived by Ashwin as he comes down the wicket and pads up. There is no review and it was umpire's call for impact in any case, but the ball was shown to be hitting the stumps. Another four follows, just to compound matters for the bowler.

It's been typical Stokes. Belligerence, but some good solid defence as well. Another couple of hours of Ben Stokes and England will be in a brilliant position.

Is Sunny employing some reverse psychology there? It doesn't work on this occasion, but just the single in the Mishra over.

Stokes didn't make a run the last time he played against India - he got three ducks. I've got a feeling he's going to make them pay for it, maybe get 150.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Stokespublished at 109 overs

    Eng 378-5

Bairstow drives Ashwin confidently through the covers for four and Stokes, with a delightfully straight bat, notches a single to complete his eighth Test fifty, from 89 balls.

Yesterday evening, we had a text sent to 81111, which simply read: "Pick me up from the doctors thanks x"

Unfortunately, we can't help on this occasion. And you probably got sick of waiting for us anyway!

But are there any other things BBC Cricket can help you with? Be realistic...
