BBC Test Match SpecialWhat attractive batting we've seen. A splendid hundred by Vijay but Kohli has really carried all before him in the classical way. What a wonderful copybook cricketer he is.

Moeen goes over the wicket for half his over and then round for the second half. He can't prevent Vijay bringing up the 100 partnership with a two, courtesy of an outside edge past slip. That is lunch.

82 oversToo easy for Vijay, who flicks a short Rashid ball fine off his legs and is only denied a boundary by the diving Stokes. The bowler hits back with a beauty to Kohli that lands on leg and spins sharply past the outside edge. Is that lunch? No, we'll have one more.
Ind 242-2published at 81 overs
81 oversVijay brings out the reverse sweep to add a second single to the one scored by Kohli earlier in the Moeen over. England are ready for lunch. After such a promising start, this has been a punishing session.

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match SpecialRashid has bowled quite tidily. He's not trying to experiment. After yesterday and the situation England are in, he's trying to get some rhythm into his bowling and keep some control. That's smart and sensible.
Ind 240-2published at 80 overs
80 oversVijay enjoys his prolonged life at the crease by guiding a Rashid ball wide of slip to add two runs to his total. Lots of disconsolate looking England players out there now.

79.2 oversOh, he's got away with it. The review shows a tiny inside edge before the ball hit the pad. A hammer blow for England. There is a lot of pointing at the screen from England players but they can't have any complaints.

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match SpecialI think this might be out because the umpire has given it out. If it's hitting half the stump, that's it.

If this is out I'm claiming commentator's curse. Rashid traps Vijay in front. Looks out. Umpire's finger goes up and India go upstairs.

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match SpecialYou get the impression that whatever England try, they don't really look like getting a wicket. It has to be a mistake - Vijay trying to get on top of the bowling and whacking almost every ball, or somebody tries to loft a drive. I don't see anywhere where the bowler is going to defeat the batsman.
Ind 238-2published at 79 overs
79 oversThe Anderson experiment ends and Moeen returns. He is over the wicket now and is milked for a single by Vijay on the sweep. It's the only run. Fine, but there remains zero threat. It's like jousting with a baguette.

400 is looking less and less like a decent total. The pundits once again getting it completely wrong!

Geoffrey predicted a high score of 500 runs yesterday. Shame it's India doing it...

78 oversEngland look like they need a mistake to make the breakthrough. Never a good position in which to be. This is a better over from Rashid - consistent, no variation, just looking for a length to draw his man forward.

BBC Test Match SpecialYou feel the way the flow of the game, and it felt this way the yesterday afternoon, that England don't have the resources to get among India's batsmen. They have the personnel but they're not in the same class as India's.

Emphatic stuff from Vijay who launches Anderson down the ground for four and holds his drive just to rub a bit of salt in the wound. Only the diving Woakes prevents Vijay scoring a second four on the pull. India's century-maker is on the charge.

Just woken up after routine back surgery in a Sheffield hospital (who have looked after me wonderfully) - checked the score and buzzed for the nurse for some more painkillers. "Is it bad?" she asks. "It's starting to look that way thanks to Vijay" says I.
