    Trail by 200 runs

200 up for India as Kohli pushes a single to cover - the only run off Moeen's latest over.

Even though we're only halfway through the first session, it looks like England have been there all day. If you took a snapchat of the field now, you'd imagine England had been toiling away for some time.

The fifty partnership came off just 73 balls.

  4. Ind 199-2published at 65 overs

50 partnership. They've scored those very quickly. Stokes can't prevent Kohli scoring as the batsman drives for three past mid-on before he and Vijay exchange a trio of singles.

It really has been a riveting morning.

The drummers are in full swing now. It is like a Stomp performance out there. Yesterday it was Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, today we've got Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse dancing in the stands. I hope Mickey isn't watching.

    Three runs off Moeen's over.

Tom Smith: Cook could learn from Kohli's captaincy. Make it impossible to get an easy run, and make the batsman attempt things.

  8. Ind 189-2published at 63 overs

England need to break this partnership sooner rather than later. A few hours of these two and India will make big inroads into the tourist's total.

Stokes draws a loose shot from Vijay, who lazily wafts a drive at a full ball outside off and is fortunate not to nick it. A better, more committed drive to another full ball gives the India player another four to move into the 90s.

Kohli's footwork is so good, he picks the ball up so early, out of the bowlers hand.

  10. Ind 181-2published at 62 overs

Moeen has his hands on his head as Vijay reaches to push through cover. That is exactly the line and length he is lucky for, trying to prompt a slight misjudgment from the batsman. He gets it wring next ball, though, dropping a fraction short and allowing Vijay to sweep for four.

Kohli then brings his class to the occasion, whipping a full ball through cover for a further boundary. So good.

  11. Ind 170-2published at 61 overs

Runs not coming easy for India. Kohli thinks he has found four of them but a diving stop from the ever-energetic Stokes at cover cuts them off. This has been excellent so far from Ball and from England.

  13. Ind 169-2published at 60 overs

Moeen is metronomic in finding the perfect length to Kohli, searching for that bit of turn and kick to convert a solid delivery into a wicket-taker. Kohli stands firm and plays out a maiden.

Amazing. It looks like a unicorn has thrown up on him.

  15. Ind 169-2published at 59 overs

Kohli is milking runs through backward point, exposing England's attacking field. Ball has found a good rhythm, though, sticking to a consistent line outside off. He tries to mix things up with a slower cutter last ball but Vijay isn't biting.

That was terrific - it's gone right over everything. Using his footwork, coming down the pitch, bang. There's a vibrancy about this match today - you can feel the crowd are really up for it.

  17. Ind 168-2published at 58 overs

    Kohli 14, Vijay 77

India on the counter. Vijay takes a stride down the track and lofts Moeen down the ground for six. It is an arm wrestle for the initiative.

  18. Ind 160-2published at 57 overs

Four more. No third man so Kohli's open-faced shot to a short Ball delivery sends the ball skipping away to the rope through the gully region. Subtle. Cook responds by bringing another man into the slips. Kohli responds by running another short ball off the face for four. He has raced to 13.

He's just playing an orthodox stroke but I like the way Kohli moves his feet. He seems to glide into position. The quality of England's spinners aren't as good as India's but you look at their batting and its not as good as ours.

  20. Ind 152-2published at 56 overs

Half-hearted calls of "catch" from Moeen as Vijay goes bat-pad to steer one just wide of the diving short leg. Kohli is more assured, going back to find the same gap for a further single.
