Bizarre. He was nowhere near it. England waste their last review.

  2. England reviewpublished at 131.1 overs

    Ind 411-7

England think Jayant has nicked one to the keeper. Anderson offered a very tame appeal, but Cook clearly thinks there was something in it.

  4. Ind 411-7published at 131 overs

    Jayant 8, Kohli 129

Kohli continues to make mincemeat of everything England throw at him. Woakes returns but the India skipper meets him with a superb full-face drive past mid-off for four. He adds another two with a steer to leg.

OK, here is a question: How do you actually get Virat Kohli out?

Adil Rashid has just finished a spell of 28-4-88-2.

It was a beautiful delivery - it just skids on and maybe holds its line. At this level, that is a regulation catch.

So frustrating. Jimmy Anderson is back and he has the new ball in his hand (stretcher and an oxygen tank for the old one, please) and draws the edge from Jayant but Joe Root spills the catch at second slip. *sigh*

This is the fifth Test in a row when India have made 400 in their first innings.

  10. Ind 404-7published at 129 overs

    Kohli 122, Jayant 8

A misfield allows India to lead in the game for the first time. Psychologically, they've been ahead for some time.

Kohli continues to find gaps and Jayant follows suit with a nice guided shot to third man for two. Jimmy is loosening up.

If Jayant or someone else does what Jake Ball does in the first innings, India will get a 50- or 60-run lead. Kohli doesn't look like he's getting out.

Kohli is a terrific player. I'd love India to be tested away a bit more though - one series in the Windies and the rest at home?

  13. Ind 399-7published at 128 overs

Kohli rocks back and looks to absolute smash a short Rashid ball but the bounce deceives both him and Bairstow and runs away for four byes. No such concerns for the following ball - full and driven through on for four.

Hang on... a chance... from Kohli. He edges a drive but it goes just wide of Stokes at slip. India one behind.

Adil Rashid has bowled three maiden overs in a row for the first time in his Test career.

    India trail by 12 runs

Ben Stokes has shown some loyalty to that cap of his. The sweat rings on it are enough to make an ancient oak jealous. It could probably walk off the field on its own.

Moeen follows Rashid in keeping it tight - just the single off his over.

No fireworks from Jayant, unlike his predecessor Jadeja. He has had the word from Kohli - "you just stay here son, I've got this." And boy has he. Rashid's third maiden in a row.

Sometimes you see players who can play to a different standard. He's one of them. My little lad is here and I had to say, 'get here quick'. It's the Virat Kohli show - and he hasn't been disappointed.
