The Indians will be cross that he got out in that way.

It was nicely teased by Rashid - he tossed it up and you could see the dust puff up from the footmarks. It was a silly shot with Kohli there - I'm not sure that's the smart way I want him to play - but it's a good wicket for England.

    Jadeja c Buttler b Rashid 25 (Ind 364-7)

Got him! Jadeja's eyes light up as Rashid tosses one up and tempts him with a maximum. There's a big puff of dust and the batsman fails to get fully hold of it, sending it up into the Mumbai sky and down for Jos Buttler to claim.

Virat Kohli is the sixth Indian to score 500 runs in a series against England.

  6. Ind 363-6published at 117 overs

Still no new ball as big Jake continues. It is a thankless task, though. In this heat, with Kohli stood at the striker's end looking about 25 ft tall.

  7. Ind 361-6published at 116 overs

You very quickly run out of superlatives for Kohli. He is denied a boundary from a cut shot by the diving Jennings at backward point but he doesn't make the same mistake twice, putting his next off-side steer wide of the fielder and all the way to the rope.

You've got to give Anderson the ball, for crying out loud.

Ball, his face plastered in sun cream, charges in with what is still the old, soft, battered ball. The big man does his best but Kohli is seeing it like the Death Star.

    India trail by 45 runs

Oh, so close to a wicket in the first over. Jadeja rocks back and punches the ball at short leg Jennings. He gets a hand to the ball, which is a miracle in itself, but can't hold on. It would be very harsh to mark that down as a dropped catch. Kohli continues to make it look like a knockabout in the back garden with the kids, pulling the last ball for four.

Cheers Amy. It is a sign of this increasingly deteriorating pitch that a small team of groundsmen are currently shovelling dirt from each end in preparation for the third session.

England will benefit but they will be well aware of the dangers the home team then pose in the third innings. The big plus, India have to bat last on this.

It is important as a captain that you go with your thoughts on the field. If you feel a bowler is right for the moment you go with it.
