A change of ends for Jadeja. Cook flicks and it is caught by leg slip but it is off the pad. Lots of excitement from the fielders but no review.

Jennings plays nice and composed. When youngsters are playing well, that's the time to give them their chance. Don't worry about their age.

But Jadeja has a break after a five-over spell and Ashwin returns. Jennings is so confident with that reverse sweep, he used it to get to his maiden Test hundred after all, and he times another one perfectly behind square to record his sixth boundary.

Jennings has played very maturely, very sensible - and he's looked to score. I'm looking to see how he comes back from two failures, and he's played really well. He'll get out to the new ball occasionally, but if the new-ball bowlers don't get you out sometimes, they're not doing their job.
Cook 43, Jennings 41
Solid again from the openers. Mishra gets some sharp turn occasionally but has yet to pitch it in the right place when he does so. Nine minutes for England to negotiate but that could be four overs if Jadeja was bowling them.

Will Harris: Went to the first three days in Chennai, got home yesterday. Up early to listen as I am still very jet lagged.
Alan Tyler: I didn't plan to be up at 5am to watch the last day of the India Test series, but so be it.

Jadeja again and England collect four overthrows as Mishra has a shy at the stumps even through the batsmen were safely through for a single. The diminutive bearded spinner runs his hands through his receding slicked back hair and has the furrowed brow that so reminds me of my solicitor.

Once the leg-spinner bowls round the wicket trying to hit the rough, it becomes predictable - so you can sweep him every time. I think he should bowl over the wicket - that, with the DRS, would make sweeping dangerous.

Jennings in command again, stepping down the track and clipping Mishra through mid-wicket for his fifth boundary. The bearded tweaker then produces a ball that zips Warne-like around four feet, from outside off stump into the left-hander's bread basket.

I think it's a doddle [batting on this pitch]. There was that one chance early on which the wicketkeeper should have taken, that gets a new batsman in. There ain't going to be a miracle today.
Cook 35, Jennings 34
Jadeja over the wicket to Cook, with three helmeted henchmen crouching close in on the leg side. Kohli is convinced Cook has edge one outside off stump but there is no review and we have yet to see one this morning.

Amit Mishra's just like the young left-arm spinner for England [Liam Dawson]. He's nice and steady, but there's no great threat.
Jennings 35, Cook 33
Some sharp spin from a Mishra short one. Cook clips off his pads but it falls short of leg slip and there are no concerns, just over 20 minutes until lunch.

Lunch will be the second landmark England chalk off - the first would have been the drinks break.

Jadeja again but Jennings up to the task, patiently sweeping his way to two more. A lady in a red Barmy Army vest and patriotic blue hair looks on.

It was right off the meat of the bat. It would have been a bonus a wicket, but technically a chance.
Eng 62-0 (Jennings 31, Cook 30)
The portly leg-spinner Amit Mishra scuttles in and Jennings comes down the wicket, he clips it firmly off the middle of the bat but short leg cannot cling on, it goes into his hands, arms, waist and unmentionables but it falls to the turf. A tough chance but technically both batsmen have had reprieves

Ben Thapa: The great news is that Root could drop to 4 and solve a massive problem there.

Jadeja, left arm over the wicket to Cook, with four men around the bat. There are lots of appeals but nothing of any danger to the skipper, who sweeps to collect his third boundary.

If Wolverhampton Wanderers played cricket this would be how. Being a Wolves fan I've always relied on the cricket to pick me up. Not anymore.
