It was going so well, wasn't it? England toddling along at 100-0, then bang, bang, bang. Three wickets for 23 runs. I suspect the notion of hands being shaken an hour early has gone out of the window. The players have a drink while Jonny Bairstow arrives at the crease. Are we in full-on collapse mode yet? One more wicket and I think I'll hit the red button.

Good call by the India captain and this is a big wicket. Joe Root has batted well throughout the series. Cricket is a funny game but I still think this will end in a draw.

That's a huge wicket, just hitting that left pad and going into the right.

Root lbw Jadeja 6 (Eng 126-3)

The roar tells us that India have struck a massive blow. It just looked out on first view. The only reason I can think it was given is that umpire Simon Fry thought Root got some bat or glove on it. He didn't. Very full, sweep missed, dead in front, leg stump being flattened. Ravi Jadeja has all three since lunch and the India juggernaut is rolling.

Looks leg side to me but he hasn't hit it which gets a great shriek from the crowd.

I tell you what, this looks a good shout. Root again, sweeping at Jadeja.

Not out, but wonderful work from bowler Jadeja to flick Moeen's drive back on to the stumps. Root's heart returns from his mouth to his chest.

I'm going on my instincts that he is all right and Root thinks he is too.

Surely not? Root hasn't been run out backing up, has he?

    Root 9, Moeen 9

I see where you're coming from, Kane. Like when a team wins a trophy so often they are allowed to keep it. Maybe Jadeja has got Cook so often that he can now keep him as a pet. Ishant Sharma replaces fellow pace bowler Umesh Yadav, but can't generate the same sort of venom. Zinc, straggly hair, all rather scruffy, Ishant can only get his bumper to waist height.

Root has looked more comfortable, more quickly than Moeen Ali. Crouched stance, upright as the ball is bowled, huge stride in defence, lovely arc of the bat when he laps a sweep off Jadeja. The noise has been knocked down a notch, like when your mum tells you to turn the telly down. England are almost halfway there.

Not all fast bowlers are good fielders like Umesh Yadav, who is excellent even when in the middle of a spell. Ishant Sharma for example is by no definition athletic.

The pacey Umesh, 90mph and upwards, is keeping Moeen guessing. Over the wicket, round the wicket. Leftie Moeen looks much more comfortable when the ball is full. High elbow, a liquid-chocolate clip off the pads. I wonder how long it will be before R Ashwin is unleashed on the leftie.

There's lots of company for Moeen Ali. He's more popular than man handing out free tenners. Slip, silly point, leg slip, short leg, short mid-wicket. Jadeja is bowling spitting cobras and England are having to cling on by their fingernails.

There's nothing subtle about the India plan to Moeen. They are going to bomb him. Short leg, men back on the hook, welcome to Bouncer City. Already, Moeen is getting into a tangle, taking his eye off the ball and almost gloving it on to his stumps. Remember when England were 100-0? That seems like a different game.

It came off his shoe and went up onto his bat. There will be a little bit of excitement for the Indian fielders - will they feel they have a sliver of opportunity now?
