Mexican Wave in Pune. England still dining on singles off Jadeja, whose economy rate of under four is tighter than Inzamam's belt. Jos Buttler does his bit to damage that, a stand-and-deliver loft over mid-off for six. Biffery.

Ian Starks: Can we just watch/listen to the game and leave the character assassination until after the game...

Neil: Surely the end for Morgan. Sam Billings has to play and Joe Root or Jos Buttler as captain.

The Groundsman: England have been absolutely outstanding over the last year in ODI cricket. Why do we always pipe up when someone fails?

There is an outstanding array of dogs lining the boundary. Mostly being used as security, I think. They aren't just having a doggy day out. One Alsatian looks particularly shattered. Fair play, India. There aren't enough dogs at cricket in England. Still Hardik Pandya, the curated facial hair of a boy band member. England have hit only two fours in the past six overs.

Eoin Morgan is a man under pressure. He hasn't made a hundred since the New Zealand series post-World Cup in 2015. When you have the likes of Sam Billings and Jonny Bairstow knocking on the door, it's a cause for concern.

How are you on this Sunday? Good Saturday night? Charity quiz for me. Strong on Dingbats and music, not so great on history, although I thought asking for the exact year that Pitt the Younger introduced income tax was needlessly difficult. More whippy accuracy from Jadeja, England struggling to pierce the field. There is a concern that England might not get enough here. Only one from it.

It's a bit of a nothing score really from Morgan but at least he made some.

  7. Eng 170-3published at 29 overs

    Root 44, Buttler 7

The Morgan-bashing is all rather predictable after the fall of the wicket. I suppose it makes a change from Ian Bell. I'm reliably informed that 37,500 are in attendance. I think every one of them is blowing something noisy. Hardik Pandya, all bandages and gold chain, pounds back of a length. Jos Buttler, batspeed quicker than a hiccup, somehow pulls through mid-on for four.

Christopher Mountain: When your captain scores 28 and you think, "that's a good score for him..." Why oh why oh why is he even in the squad?

Skye Maidstone: Awful third umpire decision. That small wiggle was after the ball had passed.

Jos Buttler is indeed the new man, Ravi Jadeja called back into the attack on the fall of the wicket. Looking at the replay, Dhoni was making the 'T' symbol for the review instantaneously - Kohli was never likely to argue, was he? Jadeja has been excellent today, accurate enough to land it on a sixpence. Root, though, has the cheekiness to reverse ramp to the meagre third-man fence.

If Morgan had been playing against the red ball he would have played that back straight but because it was the white ball he tried to run it down to third man - it was too good a ball for that.

Hmmm. I just wonder if England are reversing here. They have gone at 5.27 for the past 17 and Eoin Morgan has gone after making a start. It was a tiny feather through to MS Dhoni, pretty impossible to hear in this cauldron. One more wicket and India will feel on top.

India convinced here, Dhoni almost telling the umpire that Morgan is caught behind off Pandya. No finger. Cameras, please.

Jibin: England need at least 350 runs to beat India on this pitch. And even that may not be enough if Kohli enters 'God' mode.

Cheers Jack. A new one on me into the attack - the squat off-spin of Kedar Jadhav. This man has a first-class bowling average of 153, but an ODI average of 12. Work that one out. Very Ronnie Roundarm. Ben Stokes waits with his pads on - no sign of Jos Buttler. England sweep and prod for singles, all to the soundtrack of that horny din.

So England hit the mid-way mark of their innings and that signals a change in the live-text hotseat.

I'll hand you over to Stephan Shemilt to guide you through the rest of the England innings.

See you for the finale. I'm off to find breakfast.

England should be looking at 300-plus for sure. They have had a very good start and they can't waste it. They still have Jos Buttler to come.

    Root 34 (49), Morgan 25 (22)

Hardik Pandya is back into the attack after a slightly expensive opening spell.

No Jason Roy to get after him now but Eoin Morgan is, pulling a misdirected short ball for four before a leg bye brings up the 150.

Jon: Which Morgan are we going to see today? 6 hitting IPL superstar, or the bloke who looks like he's never held a bat before?

Theo: Morgan... an average just tipping 20 in his last 14 ODI's, top score of 41. Bairstow in, Morgan out, Root captain.

Vince: Some of England's so called fans are perverse. They are actually willing failure on our own players. Bizarre.

Ashwin isn't troubling England much here and with little spin, England are able to play him however they see fit.

Morgan glances away through fine leg for a boundary and Root continues to rotate the strike well.

Australia have sprung yet another surprise with their Test squad, naming 23-year-old leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson in their party for four Tests in India.

Swepson has only 14 first-class matches to his name, averaging 32.82 with the ball.

He's one of four spinners, alongside the recalled Ashton Agar (remember him?), Steve O'Keefe and Nathan Lyon.

All-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh have also been recalled.
