Anand Dahihandekar: Ban vuvuzelas please. We have enough noise on Indian grounds

Greystoke: Any chance of filtering out that awful vuvuzela-like racket?

Roy makes it look very effortless. He's got great balance at the crease.

    Roy 31 (24)

Roy is looking in fine fettle. Umesh still searching for the lbw but Roy punches him down the ground for four.

    High hands, great follow through.

New dad Joe Root comes to the crease - can he emulate fellow new dad Harry Kane who scored a hat-trick to celebrate for Tottenham yesterday?

I think a century would be the equivalent, right?

He won't face yet though as Hales was run out at the bowler's end.

That was a very obvious two, hit between backward square leg and fine leg. Credit to Bumrah, who picked the ball up quickly and hit the stumps - it's a brilliant bit of fielding.

Hales run out (Bumrah) 9 (Eng 39-1)

England try to race through for two but Hales is caught ball-watching and on his heels.

It's a tremendous throw from Bumrah to nail the stumps from fine leg.

Hales' bat was on the line as the bails fell but the line belongs to the umpire and off he goes.

Pandya has got what you'd call 'wheels' about his bowling. He gets the ball to hurry through.

Umesh straightens up and not much doing here except a scrambled single for Hales.

R Ashwin proved quicker on his heels than the lanky opener expected but Hales makes his ground.

    No love for Morgan...

Stewart Kevin: Jonny Bairstow must be gutted to have been left out massive pressure on Morgan, looks like the weak link in the team.

Glen Young: I'd like to have seen Billings play. Doubt we'll trouble India too much in a series I predict will be Morgan's last as captain.

Unless something happens to this pitch after the new ball this is going to be a high-scoring game.

  15. Eng 24-0published at 4 overs

Pandya is nagging away on a good line and length and Hales can't work him away for the first four balls.

A miscued hook shot follows but it drops safe. Just.

That's the first DRS decision there's been in a bilateral series in India. They'll be wanting to get rid of it now that decision has gone against them.
