Good carry and good bounce. All the players were looking at the pitch yesterday and wondering how it would play. If there is bounce, there will be sixes.

Roy flicks off his legs for a single and Hales continues his watching brief.
It's very noisy in Pune. As you would expect.
Hardik Pandya opens from the other end - Roy hitting him on the up second ball but safe enough through the covers for four.
Next delivery, same result, similar shot but better from Roy, again through the covers but more controlled.

Jay: Losing the toss is a good start. It's a win win for England. If they win they, well, win. If they lose, they can blame it on the toss #bbccricket, external
Roy eventually gets off the mark, a thickish edge that third man fails to cut off before it bumps the boundary rope.
A leg bye follows before Alex Hales' first ball is a wide down the leg side.
The Nottinghamshire opener plays straight to defend Yadav's final delivery.
Intriguing start.
Oof! A jaffer from Yadav. Skiddy, shaping away from Roy, who does well not to nick off.
Big swing from Yadav first ball. Interesting.
...what an anti-climax.
Movement behind the sight screen, Roy pulls away and it's a dead ball.
Here we go again...
So MS Dhoni takes his familiar position behind the stumps but in an unfamiliar position not as the skipper of this side.
Umesh Yadav to open the bowling. Jason Roy will face first up.
Here we go...

Ex-England seamer on BBC Test Match Special
It's time for England to turn things around after the Test series. Both teams are looking ahead to the Champions Trophy and that's why we've got two strong teams. I'm looking forward to this series - it should be a good one.
The anthems are complete in Pune.
We'll be under way soon...

Gethin Evans: Bairstow has to be in any England XI across any format right now. It's an absolute travesty to leave him out.
Ollie Bartlett: Surprised to see Plunkett left out. Been very consistent and useful hitting down the order. Maybe not 100%?
Jonty Rhodes: Morgan has been great & can still have good days but surely both Billings & Bairstow better & more consistent bats now.
I'm guessing not THAT Jonty Rhodes...

So the main reaction to England's team news seems to be outrage at the lack of Sam Billings. Are Kent fans particularly early risers on Sundays?
Dan3001: What's wrong with Sam Billings??? Why play him in warm-up games then?
Neale Turner: What has Sam Billings done to upset England, drop Morgan.
Daniel Heselden: Hope they get stuffed just for leaving out Billings

Still, this should be a fascinating three-match series, starting here in Pune.
If England can carry their 2016 white-ball form into this year, we could be on for a thriller.
Plenty of other points of intrigue too - including how will former captain MS Dhoni do back in the ranks?
There are reasons to be fearful for England too though - many of them in the shape of new India ODI skipper Virat Kohli.
The star batsman has scored a remarkable 26 ODI centuries at an average of 52.93.
The closest England players to that tally? Eoin Morgan and Joe Root with eight.
And concerns over how England play spin in sub-continent conditions remain.
Simon Mann has marked out his run up and the Test Match Special team are ready for the first delivery at around 08:00 GMT.
