Man of the match Yuvraj Singh, who hit 150 from 127 balls, says: "In the domestic seaosn I've been hitting the ball really well and I've been working hard on my fitness. The results showed today.

"Me and MS Dhoni understand the situations really well, we started by hitting the ball down the ground really well and not taking any risks. Then we attacked when the time was right."

Asked by Ravi Shastri where it ranks among his ODI hundreds, he says: "Probably the best because I started my career as a lower-order batsmen. Getting 150 was a target in my career and I'm very happy I got that. I knew it was coming.

"Diet has been the key, as you pass 30 you've got to work hard on your fitness - I learned that from Sachin and Kumble, all the greats."

India captain Virat Kohli says: "I said to the team that if we had had a good start (India were 25-3) then where could we have ended up today? MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh brought stability and wonder to the team, their batting rate was outstanding. 

"A 380 target, we thought, was a bit too far-fetched, but we bowled at the most difficult time because of the dew.

"If we had not picked up the wickets in the middle then I'm not sure where the game would have gone.

"Having won the series now the next game will be about figuring out a couple of things. I wouldn't say we have played at our best, but Kolkata may be the one."

Rather than give man-of-the-match Yuvraj a cheque, the sponsors' representative presses 'send' on a money transfer via tablet. The modern age, eh?

England captain Eoin Morgan, who scored 102 from 81 balls: "We probably weren't at our best with ball or the bat but we still competed and it's tremendously disappointing not to get over the line.

"Bowling to MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh is very difficult at times. The margin for error is quite small and the challenge is to break the partnership a little earlier.

"We showed a lot of fight, we have a huge amount of talent. It's been a magnificent day's cricket."

England were very good against Kohli. They had a plan and executed it perfectly but I don't think they knew what they were doing against Yuvraj Singh. England need something different in the bowling and to me that is Mark Wood who can bowl yorkers and has real pace. They need something more if they are going to win a global tournament.

That was England's highest ODI total batting second, and their largest ever total in a losing cause. India were just too good.

Ashwin out-thought Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Although Eoin Morgan played a valiant innings, it left England with too much to do.

Alastair in Hove: That's the second highest score for an unsuccessful run chase!

India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 3-65: "It was very important to forget the last game. The one-day game has changed quite a bit and it's very important to try to keep going for wickets and, yes, boundaries are going to go here and there, but you always have that man inside the circle."

If you are a bowler, you have got to mix up the pace and vary it as much as you can. You have to be very clear sighted in what you bowl and use every ball as an event, and think about how you set the field. 

Paul B: A sad end to (and waste of) a very valiant innings from Eoin Morgan. His finest century knock?

India's batsman did convert - Yuvraj (150) and Dhoni (134) rolling back the years with a rescue job which was followed by all-out attack.

Jason Roy (82), Moeen Ali (55) and Joe Root (54) also made half-centuries. If only one of those three had converted.

It's unfair to blame England's death bowlers but they still haven't got that right. Woakes is good but they haven't got another person that they can really rely on.
