To me, that was the key over. You can see it in Virat Kohli's face - a wry smile.

    Need 82 from 36 balls

This is a lesson in death bowling from India. England have scored just 35 runs in five overs.

He just lost his shape, Moeen Ali. England at 299-6 and the pendulum is swinging towards India's favour at this stage.

    Moeen b Kumar 55 (Eng 299-6)

That's a big, big strike for India.

Kumar bowls a cutter wide of off stump and Moeen drags on. The bails start flashing and the crowd roars.

  5. Eng 299-5published at 43.2 overs

Need 83 runs off 40 balls

I seem to be the only person in the office who thinks England will win from here.

The dew is hampering India, with the bowlers drying the ball between deliveries and fielders making regular mistakes.

A couple of singles, then Moeen requests a change of bat. We're waiting for Sam Billings to bring the right piece of willow now.

Here we go. England are moving into the fast lane, Moeen hitting back-to-back boundaries and bringing up his fifty.

  7. Eng 286-5published at 42.2 overs

Jadhav fires it in and Eoin Morgan hits across the line and through cow corner for four.

    Useful.

  8. Eng 278-5published at 42 overs

    Need 100 from 48 balls

Moeen is playing a frenetic knock... stepping inside the line and dinking two into the off side. But twos don't win matches. Boundaries do, and England haven't hit one since the 39th over.

These are the sorts of catches you take in practice. It's a fairly easy one and he was still looking up as the ball hit him.

    Eng 278-5

Is that the ball-game? Moeen heaves Kumar high into the night sky and Jadeja makes a complete mess of it. The ball slips between the gap between hands and chest, leaving a bruise behind and the fielder red-faced. How crucial will that prove to be?

  11. Eng 274-5published at 41 overs

Big over this. Kedar Jadhav, the round-arm, part-time offie, England needing upwards of 11 an over. Everything must go, but Jadhav is doing an excellent job, firing it down a tube. No boundary. Brilliant from Jadhav.

  12. Eng 269-5published at 40 overs

    Need 113 from 60 balls

Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali are deliberately circumspect in Ashwin's final over of the match. Just three singles from the over.

Morgan has an extra reason to celebrate his 50 as this means all the armchair selectors will give him another game.

This will test Kohli's captaincy. We've seen him talk to MS Dhoni a lot in this innings and seek his advice.

  15. Eng 266-5published at 39 overs

    Morgan 61, Moeen 30

The required run-rate is 10.54 heading into the final 11 overs.

    Has Morgan got this?

Absolutely stunning. Eoin Morgan is giving England a bit of a chance here and Moeen Ali is the perfect foil at the other end.

  17. Eng 262-5published at 38.2 overs

Eoin Morgan smites Pandya for 10 runs off two balls. Pure power and calculated brutality.

That a terrific shot from Moeen Ali, it wasn't that short but he moved quickly onto the back foot.

    Eng 252-5

Moeen rocks back and pulls a half-tracker for four. The field spreads as India realise these two can knock off 50 in next to no time.

Speaking of fifties... Eoin Morgan raises his bat after reaching the landmark off 53 balls. He is congratulated by his partner but both men know there's still so much work to be done.

Morgan has batted very well and struck a couple of fine blows but England need more of that. By having five dot balls in the last over off Ashwin, they have put the pressure back on themselves.
