They've been thrashed today but England are still in high spirits as they spray each other with champagne and Eoin Morgan collects the trophy for winning the series 2-1. How will their mood be after the opening Champions Trophy? We shall see.

Jonny Bairstow is unlucky to be out of the team, but who do you bring him in for? It's a brave man who leaves Jason Roy out. He destroys bowling attacks. While he and Alex Hales aren't as successful as a pair as you might expect, generally one of them lays a platform for England when the other one fails.

More from Eoin Morgan: "Jason (Roy) has scored a lot of runs and been a part of our team for a long time now. A player like him, the score is always around the corner.

"We've gained a l ot of confidence from this series and it's important we take that into the Champions Trophy."

On the tag of being favourites with the bookmakers: "Somebody fancies us - I don't know who it is but someone's had a big punt somewhere! It's flattering but today is a reminder not to get too carried away with us as a side. We'll give it a good crack."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "I think the batting was summed up in the first hour. A tinge of green and we seemed to nick everything this morning.

"They made us play a hell of a lot and managed to get the ball moving around. Certainly, it's not down to a lack of trying. We've put in a lot this series but today was just a bit of a hiccup.

"It's a lesson with the bat and ball - our bowlers to be disciplined and our batsman that, sometimes, you have to sit in.

On resting players: "It was precautionary. it gives guys an extra day's rest going into Thursday's game. It's important we start well, and go into the game mentally and physically fit."

More from England coach Trevor Bayliss, talking to Sky Sports about whether the form of Jason Roy is a concern, with 13 runs from three innings: "Yes it is if one of your players is not scoring the runs he would like. We stuck with Jason before and he came good and he has been the basis of a lot of our success so that makes it a difficult decision. We'll have to wait and see but it will be an interesting selection meeting."

South Africa captain AB de Villiers: "It's looking a lot better now after winning a good game of cricket. We had a lot to play for today. We said it's not all about the result but there were some encouraging signs in this last game.

"The boys hung on to almost everything that came their way. There's still a few areas to work on in the field but the boys struck from the word go.

"All three grounds have been different, the conditions have changed from ground to ground. It's all about the senior players adapting and communicating to the rest of the team what will work well."

On the forthcoming Champions Trophy: "We're pretty sure what our best XI is. We have 15 really good players. I think the team can change at any time and whoever comes in is very confident, that's for sure. I like to think we've got a good chance."

It was a promising debut for Middlesex's Toby Roland-Jones. He made 37 from as many balls and took the wicket of Amla during his 1-34 from seven overs. Let's enjoy those moments again now.

South Africa only needed 28.5 overs to reach their modest target of 154, but it was enough time for Hashim Amla to become the fastest player to reach 7,000 ODI runs. The 34-year-old was playing his 150th innings and beat Virat Kohli's record.

Man-of-the-match Kagiso Rabada: "There was something there for the bowlers today that all of us could capitalise.

"I didn't think the slope was that bad. I struggled a bit at Leeds though. That's what you try to do - if you're not getting better, it's a bit of a concern, I think.

"There was a bit in the wicket in the first 10 overs and a bit of a bounce, which bodes well for the Champions Trophy. Hopefully we can go there on even more of a high."

Kagiso Rabada wins man of the match for his spell of 4-12, the paceman finishing with 4-39 from nine overs.

Kagiso Rabada is key to South Africa's chances in the Champions Trophy. If he makes inroads into the opposition, he puts them onto the back foot. Their top five is up there with the very best and Imran Tahir could come into his own on pitches which are likely to become more worn as the tournament progresses.

England coach Trevor Bayliss: "We didn't play too well today but a 2-1 series over South Africa... we'll take that every day. We should have done better than we did and probably didn't read the conditions as well as we could have done but credit to them on a wicket which had a little bit in. Today's result ensures we go into the Champions Trophy without big heads."

Jonny Bairstow impressed yet again, top-scoring for England with 51 from 67 balls before he departed in the 28th over, the eighth wicket to fall. Here is with one of his eight boundaries.

While we wait for the presentation let's have a look back at the story of the match - and the main point to emphasise is that England were 20-6 after five overs, with South Africa pace bowler Kagiso Rabada taking 4-12.

I'm all for being positive, taking the attack to the opposition and is what has been successful, one of the reasons why they are one of the favourites for the Champions Trophy but what disappointed me was we looked as though we were the visitors, batting at Lord's for the first time, not taking into account the slope. You still have to apply yourselves to the conditions.
