  1. 6 runs

    SA 127-4published at 14.2 overs

David Willey is back - and AB De Villiers lofts him over his shoulder for six! That's an amazing shot! De Villiers moved outside off stump, crouched down low and hoisted the ball up and over the fine leg rope. In fact, we're going to need a new ball. That one is long gone.

AB de Villiers has had a barren time in England. Now, as he prepares to leave for home in a few days, he looks in vintage form.

  3. SA 120-4published at 14 overs

Farhaan Behardien is the new man at the crease. That's a lovely little shuffle from AB De Villiers, timing the pants off a cover drive that charges off down to the boundary. Plunkett responds with a fine short ball, into the body, and De Villiers can only tap it down to safety. The bowler finishes with figures of 4-0-36-2.

That was a loose shot from David Miller. There was width there and I know why he fancied it, but he didn't get into position properly and just wafted at the ball. I worry about South Africa's depth here.

    WICKETpublished at 13.2 overs

    Miller c Buttler b Plunkett 8 (SA 113-4)

Eurgh, that's horrible from David Miller. No foot movement, Liam Plunkett takes the pace off, and Miller has a ugly looking swipe at the ball. Good bowling from Plunkett - that's two wickets he's claimed with a slower ball, and Miller isn't happy that he's fallen for the same trick.

And here is Liam Dawson's one wicket - one big shot too many from opener JJ Smuts.

  7. SA 113-3published at 13 overs

    Miller 8, De Villiers 34

These two are running really well together. It's Miller who leads the way, turning an easy one into a speedy two. That's Liam Dawson's work with the ball over for the day - he finishes with figures of 4-0-38-1.

  8. 6 runs

    SA 107-3published at 12.2 overs

David Miller comes down the track and drives, but he's not got his timing right and the ball drops just in front of the advancing Chris Jordan. AB de Villiers shows him how to do it - down on one knee and sweeping into the temporary stand for six! A fan makes a vain effort to catch it, but wisely opts to duck down.

This is going to be interesting because David Miller has improved his touch game, and is now able to turn the strike over better than in the past.

  10. SA 100-3published at 12 overs

    Miller 2, De Villiers 27

David Miller is the next man in and he greets the returning Chris Jordan with a sneaky single. This is a better over from Jordan as he sees Miller coming down the pitch and spears the ball wide. Miller ends up looking a bit daft, reaching and swiping at fresh air, before working a ball off his hip to bring up South Africa's 100.

Liam Plunkett has been right in the thick of the action today - here he is dismissing Mangaliso Mosehle for 15.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11 overs

    Smuts c Plunkett b Dawson 45 (SA 96-3)

Top edge, up into the air, out! That's an improvement on his golden duck in the first game, but there's still some frustration from JJ Smuts. He was on one leg, trying to pull into that mid-wicket area, but instead spooned a leading edge up towards Liam Plunkett. A nice, controlled catch from Plunkett too, watching the ball all the way into his hands.

  13. 6 runs

    SA 94-2published at 10.3 overs

That'll be four for JJ Smuts, a swipe across the line as he gives himself room to free his arms. And six! Dawson tossed it up, Smuts saw it early and it was an easy ballet-dancer jig down the pitch to hoist the ball up and away over mid-wicket.

  15. SA 84-2published at 10 overs

De Villiers hits for four. Said that a few times before. He doesn't quite catch it as he pulls Plunkett through mid-wicket. He then hits another four. See I've said it again already. This one is a sliced effort down to the rope at third man. He wasn't entirely convincing in Southampton and neither of those two shots were middled beauties. Still, runs are runs. They keep coming with a far more convincing pull to send a Plunkett lollipop full toss on the ground to cow and then a six to the opposite side of the ground. Form temporary, class permanent. Here endeth the lesson.

This is the thing about De Villiers... even in ODIs he prefers to come in around 38 overs and push on from there. He feels he makes bigger runs - a bigger impact - towards the end.

  17. SA 63-2published at 9 overs

Liam Dawson will continue, with AB De Villiers in his sights. He comes around the wicket, spearing the ball a touch short, and De Villiers has an awkward-looking hoick to knock away a single. It's a good over from the spinner though, South Africa able to work just three runs away.

Christian Reilly: I remember as a kid watching Kevin Curran (Tom's dad) hit THE biggest 6 I've ever seen for Gloucs v Lancs circa 1985. Nice guy.

  19. SA 60-2published at 8 overs

    Plunkett 2-0-8-1

Here's AB De Villiers at four. He drives, a little aerially, to his first delivery, but picks up a couple to get off the mark. He didn't look too fluent in the first Twenty20. Famous last words...

That is a good change-up from Plunkett. He knew he was going to get attacked so he changed it up, rolled his fingers over the ball and changed his pace. Mosehle will be disappointed. He looked to be going well.
