    Cook c De Kock b Cook 3 (SA 3-1)

Cook didn't think he'd hit it. He shook his head immediately after South Africa called for the review but there is a little wobble on ultra edge.

It's an inswinger from Philander and I think initially they appealed for lbw but De Kock took the catch behind the stumps and the England opener is gone.

South Africa think they have Cook. Could be LBW, could be caught behind? They've called for a review.

  4. Eng 3-0published at 3 overs

Watchful from Jennings. Play yourself in. He blocks and blocks and then isn't tempted by a wider delivery from Morne Morkel. The tall quick has a go around the wicket to end the over but no change in fortunes.

England should see off Vernon Philander. Wait for his second and third spell when he's slower. He's not fully fit, is getting on a bit and struggles later in the day. He won't be swinging it at tea-time. The ball will be going off the middle of the bat then. Stay there!

  6. Eng 3-0published at 2 overs

Vernon Philander is the other opening bowler. He's only started off at around 79mph but is getting a nice bit of shape back into Alastair Cook's pads. That's too straight. England's record run-scorer clips the ball off his pads for a couple. We must have seen that shot a million times now.

  7. Eng 1-0published at 1 over

    Cook 1 Jennings 0

Alastair Cook has seen plenty of this in his lengthy international career. He gets away with a single with Morkel bowling a tad short.

That brings Keaton Jennings onto strike. What a challenge for him in his fourth Test. He'll have played in this sort weather plenty of times up at Chester-le-Street though which should help.

They won't tell you it but I don't think South Africa will be bothered about this. They now have a chance to bowl at the England top order in ideal bowling conditions.

Has there ever been anyone better than Anderson in conditions like this?

Four for four for Anderson this morning. Chris Morris stomped off annoyed he didn't try and play this one straighter...

England swapped the ball this morning and they obviously found one to their liking because it hooped around.

Jimmy ends with figures of five for 72 after taking all four wickets in three and a bit overs this morning.

Four wickets have fallen for 26 runs with the ball swinging around corners.

A penny for Keaton Jennings and Gary Ballance's thoughts? They'd have wanted South Africa to hold on until the sun comes out.

England looked tired last night, they lacked a little spark. This morning they came out, pitched it up and got their rewards with the new ball.

  14. wicket

Morkel c Bairstow b Anderson 8 (SA 335 all out)

    Five-fer for Jimmy!

Anderson has been irresistible and Morkel swings at a full pitched delivery and gets a faint edge through to Bairstow.

It has taken just six overs and two balls for England to wrap up this South Africa innings this morning.

  15. SA 335-9published at 96 overs

    Morkel 8 Olivier 0

Stuart Broad hasn't got his line and length quite as perfect as his bowling partner this morning. Morkel is dealing in boundaries and steps forward and punches Broad for four. As Michael Vaughan said earlier, Morkel will want quick runs and then have a go in these conditions himself.

Three wickets this morning for England and James Anderson. He's a master in these swinging conditions. Joe Root pulled off an excellent catch as Jimmy dismissed Maharaj for the second wicket of the day.

    Morris c&b Anderson 36 (SA 330-9)

"Oh Jimmy, Jimmy" sing the crowd as England's greatest-ever has a fourth.

It's another odd dismissal as Morris looks to work the ball into the leg side but gets a leading edge.

Anderson does well to react and pat the up before taking the catch on the second attempt.

As Stokes got to his feet, rather gingerly (pardon the pun), his trousers slid down a little, revealing some grey undershorts. James Anderson, keen to help his mate keep his dignity, hoisted the strides up for him to much laughter from the crowd.

Physio on for Stokespublished at 94.3 overs

Oh no. This is not what England want. Ben Stokes pulls off an excellent diving stop but slips as he throws at the stumps. Instantly the all-rounder clutches his side.
