South Africa have got to play some shots. If they get bowled out, at least it's a good time to be bowling.

Morris 32 Morkel 4
How will Chris Morris treat this now? Attack?
That's an odd but effective shot as he jabs Broad for four with a pull. Morris clearly trusts his partner Morkel. He takes a single and, a ball after a lazy waft outside off stump, the left-handed Morkel drives for four.
Good over for South Africa.
In the Women's World Cup, England are 49-1 after 10 overs against West Indies. You can follow that game here.
In the must-win game between India and New Zealand, Mithali Raj's side are 37-2 after 12 overs. The winner will qualify for the semi-finals. Full scorecard here.

mgb: Jamie is a prophet
Foz: Ohhhhhhh Jimmy Jimmy
Grant Kennett: Jimmy Anderson really is beyond words. Alongside McGrath in modern-day legend status, he must be.
Anderson 3-68
Perfect start from England and Anderson. 12 balls, two wickets and no runs from him so far.
Here's the first of those wickets...

That was a beautiful ball, especially considering the one before it was a big, hooping inswinger. I wouldn't be too worried if I was South Africa though. If they can scrape another 40 runs, these are beautiful bowling conditions.

Maharaj never looked likely to stick around for long.
Maharaj c Root b Anderson 0 (SA 317-8)
Jamie is not wrong.
If the first was a soft dismissal this is classic Jimmy Anderson. Inswinger followed by outswinger and Maharaj just can't cope. He edges to Joe Root at second slip who takes a good diving catch.

Jamie: Jimmy Anderson is god
Joe Root has just two slips for Stuart Broad with a new ball just 11 overs old in swing bowling conditions. I reckon Alastair Cook would have got a fair bit of stick if he did the same.
The slips aren't in the game though if Broad bowls down the leg side as Chris Morris clips one off his pads for the first four of the morning.

As the start of play approached, I lurked in the pavilion, trying to get a money shot of Root leading his team from the dressing room. Even though a burly England security chap moved me from one place, I got a decent spot. But when the moment came, I failed, my photography making the skipper look like he'd just stumbled out of a nightclub.
We'll go again tomorrow!
Anderson 2-68
Keshav Maharaj is the new batsman and gets a beauty first up from Anderson.
Play that if you can.

That wasn't a great ball, it was just a mistake from the batsman. Perhaps the nerves of having to start again.
Philander c Dawson b Anderson 54 (SA 309-7)
A leading edge off a back of a length delivery. It's not your classic swing bowlers' dismissal but Jimmy Anderson won't complain.
Vernon Philander gone before South Africa add to their overnight score as Liam Dawson takes the catch at cover.
Philander 54 Morris 23
Yep the ball has been changed. Joe Root scrubs the new one on his trousers.
Surely there'll be movement today. Anderson starts us off.
Not a delivery bowled and James Anderson is not happy with the shape of the ball.
Out comes the fourth umpire with the box of new cherries.
Remarkable. What could possibly have changed? We're going to have a delay.

It feels like a tremendous bowling day. Stuart Broad couldn't wait to get to the middle today. He's pawing at the ground.
Jerusalem on the speakers. Here come the players.
The floodlights are on. It's overcast. A bowling day.
Would South Africa mind being knocked over quickly and having a go at England's top order?
