SA need 380 to win, England need nine wickets

Hashim Amla is aware of his off stump and is leaving everything not aimed at the timber by Jimmy Anderson.

Amla has faced 11 deliveries and is yet to get off the mark.

I'm surprised England reviewed that. Without being disrespectful, it's only Heino Kuhn. You don't want to waste a review on him.

  3. Not outpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

Wasted review. The ball is nowhere near the bat or glove.

England still have not got a hang of this.

Kuhn looks very relaxed, whether he is a good actor or not, we'll have to see. I think he may have hit the foot with the bat.

    Howzaattt??

England go up as they think Heino Kuhn has nicked one to Jonny Bairstow.

South Africa will have to play and a miss a few, they need to hope that they don't get a delivery like Elgar did. Just survive half an hour and then you never know.

The shuffling Hashim Amla, who starts on his leg stump before taking a step to the off, is dangerous once set, so England need to get him early or they could be left frustrated.

Amla shoulders-arms a delivery and makes me flinch, after seeing Faf du Plessis in this series. The number three knew what he was doing.

A brilliant spell from Broad, this. The ball is moving off the surface for him and Amla knows he is in for a fight here.

    Another scoreless over.

    No relenting for South Africa.

Heino Kuhn cannot get England's leading wicket Jimmy Anderson away. Every delivery is on the mark and there is a shout for lbw, but only from wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

    Maiden.

Hashim Amla sees out the rest of the over and the England team smell blood. They are swarming all over the bearded South Africa.

We could be in for an early finish today.

Broad is pumped up. It's been a great set from him. More pace, more zip and Elgar, who has been the most effective South African batsman of this tour, is gone. This match has an inevitable feel about it.

Broad posed the questions, Elgar could not answer.

The South Africa opener does not know whether it's going to be full or short. It's full, Elgar nicks it and safely snaffled by Jonny Bairstow behind the stuffs.

Hashim Amla in. Amla out, all out...?

Brutal stuff from Broad. A thunderous delivery skips off the surface and smacks Dean Elgar on his left elbow. Ouch.

Elgar took a pummeling in the fourth innings of the previous Test.

A couple are tucking into their lunch while in bed on the boundary. Yes, in bed! Cricket is gone.

On the pitch, Dean Elgar shows his the bat manufacturer with a gorgeous straight drive down the ground. Anderson will not like that.

A few spots of grey hair creeping through the sides of Jimmy now, he's getting old, but it is not affecting his bowling.

A brilliant delivery squares up Elgar and the South Africa batsman gives a nod of appreciation.

This is where South Africa have to be strong in their own head. Forget the play and the miss, stay on your path and concentrate on the next ball. Both Anderson and Broad are momentum type bowlers. South Africa need to just stun that.

So many empty seats inside Old Trafford. It's the summer holidays man, let the kids in for free, no?

Rather that than banks of white everywhere.

At the other end, Heino Kuhn's partner Dean Elgar is being made to jump around the crease like an excitable rabbit by Stuart Broad.

The England bowler is on point* in that over, just a single.

*'on point' in urbandictionary = perfect. 'on point' in cricket = a fielding position.
