It's so important for West Indies to rebound from this. Even if they lose at Headingley and Lord's, they need to show progression. Being consistent and disciplined was the challenge for West Indies - it continues to be the challenge. It's there for all to see.

  2. Man of the match - Alastair Cookpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

Alastair Cook, who scored 243, on Test Match Special: "This is unbelievable for an old man like me. It's always nice to win and contribute with a big score. We bowled well today - Jimmy and Broady are world class. It's a special achievement for Broad. That spell of bowling after tea, he was fired up and did what he does. He should be very proud.

"To win in three days is a great effort. It's so easy from the sidelines saying this would be an easy Test, but you're in the battle and on that first morning you have the nerves, you don't see that from the sidelines."

England will be delighted, they will celebrate long and hard and it is a special moment for Stuart Broad. The West Indies team is just so young. It won't get any easier at Headingley, where the red ball will do more than the pink ball.

What do England learn from this? Their batting problems are still there, they've had three days worth of experience with the pink ball, in their own conditions, and you can guarantee Australia aren't going to roll over like this come the Ashes. Australia thrashed West Indies at home in 2015 before they came here for the Ashes, and look how well that series turned out for them...

This is West Indies sixth heaviest Test defeat, in terms of runs, and their third worst against England. That tells a story in itself. The full list is over here, courtesy of Cricinfo., external

  7. 'We need to turn it around'published at 21:07 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

West Indies captain Jason Holder on Test Match Special: "I am not happy. We didn't play good enough. Being beaten in three days is disappointing. We need to turn it around.

"Broad and Anderson bowled well, but we just weren't good enough. We have to spend next the few days recuperating and coming up with some new plans."

Arsenal Related: I'm a massive fan of Test cricket, but this series against West Indies is a complete waste of time to be honest.

Mr Fizz: So who is STILL saying this is a worthwhile "test" series then? WI could have had 300 start and still lost. Absolutely boring!

This saddens me. There's a lot of young players in the West Indies side and you need to give them time, but I find it difficult that they can go on without any senior players. There is no one there to teach them. This series will be sad to watch.

England have been clinical in the field, with Broad in particular coming back from a disappointing second day to bowl with real control and consistency. Anderson was as good as ever, I thought Moeen did a cracking job in holding down an end and exploiting a pitch that was keeping low, and Roland-Jones was economical. But really, the absolutely shambolic nature of West Indies batting will dominate the discussions over the next few days.

A really good performance by England. They would have been expected to win at the start of the week but probably not as comfortable as it has been. For West Indies to lose 19 wickets, I really fear this series could be one of the saddest for Test match cricket. Every time they have arrived in England, they seem to have got worse and worse.

Nineteen wickets have fallen today. In two innings, West Indies have made a combined score of 305, which is 62 more than Alastair Cook scored in England's innings.

England applaud the fans as they walk off the pitch. It's good to see plenty have stayed behind, particularly in the Hollies Stand, to see England claim victory. Stuart Law, West Indies' coach, cuts a beleaguered figure as he makes his way down the stairs to shake England's hands.

    Joseph c Stokes b Roland-Jones (WI 137 all out)

It's all over. A truly dismal day for West Indies comes to end as Joseph gets a thick edge to Stokes, who takes a fine diving catch at third slip. They've been bowled out for the second time in the day.

A bit of inswing from James Anderson. We've seen that from West Indies' batsmen today - they've not had much balance playing drives. Anderson is getting ever nearer that 500 mark. I fancy him to get there at Headingley.

    Roach b Anderson 12 (WI 137-9)

Not to be outdone by his team-mate, Anderson nips through Kemar Roach with a belter! There's a hint of swing as Roach, feet trapped on the crease, pushes forward and promptly gets his stumps rearranged. High-fives all around for Anderson as last man Miguel Cummins enters the playing field. England are one wicket away from a three day victory.
