When I was playing, with a deficit of 80 I'd ask one player to knock them off and then it's down to the rest of the team to set a target. With this type of lead West Indies have got now, it'll take two batsmen to knock off the arrears.

Only 19 times in test history has a team conceded a first innings lead of 150 or more & gone on to win a Test.

    Lead by 161

Gabriel rotates the strike and then Roach sweeps Moeen away to the fence.

    Fun stuff from the tailenders.

  4. 6 runs

    WI 414-9published at 120.2 overs

Here we go! Gabriel gets in behind and slaps Moeen back over his head for six.

  5. WI 407-9published at 120 overs

    Roach 1, Gabriel 0

Roach gets off the mark in streak style, poking one off the splice into the gully area.

Gabriel sees off the last two balls from Woakes.

Can these two survive through to lunch? Do they even want to? It would be a nasty little spell for England if they were put in now.

  6. Moeen makes amendspublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 27 August 2017

After his earlier drop of a much easier chance, Moeen will be happy to have held onto this one.

It was a really good partnership from Blackwood and Holder, a good counter punch. Shannon Gabriel has got to swing.

  8. WI 406-9published at 119 overs

    Lead by 148

So Gabriel - his most famous batting display being him throwing away a potential drawn match and series against Pakistan with a rash hoik - survives and plays out the over.

How much can he and Roach add to this total?

That should have been out. It should have been all over.

Stoneman drops Gabrielpublished at 118.5 overs

New man Shannon Gabriel lets the first ball go but then tries to fend the second into the leg side and hits it straight at Mark Stoneman under the lid.

But no - he doesn't sort his hands out at all and scoops underneath the ball.

Short leg is a tough place to field but that should've been taken.

That was a brilliant take from Jonny Bairstow on the half volley in front of the stumps. Brilliant, brilliant glovework.

And brilliant fielding from Stokes too.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 118.3 overs

Blackwood run out (Stokes) 49 (WI 406-9)

Moeen spins one through and it flicks Roach's pads, evading Bairstow and Stokes at first slip.

Stokes gives chase, pulls it in and fires in the throw - Blackwood calls Roach through for a third, trying to get back on strike but is out by some way in the end as Bairstow flicks off the bails.

I can understand he wanted the strike but why was he taking on Stokes' arm for a ropey third run there?

He's missed out on a half-century, too, but a terrific little innings to help Windies reassert themselves after those early wickets.

Blackwood has come back for an ill-advised third run - has he run himself out here?

  16. WI 404-8published at 118.1 overs

Moeen gets one through and raps Roach's pads - Bairstow appeals wildly but the bowler isn't interested at all.

    On we go...

  18. WI 404-8published at 118 overs

    Blackwood 49, Roach 0

The batsmen crossed so Blackwood will face and is happy to just play out the over.

New man Kemar Roach on strike next up - can England nip him out quickly?

Well done Moeen Ali. It has cost the team runs but such is cricket the ball follows you around. It was a very god catch over his shoulder.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 117.4 overs

    Holder c Moeen b Woakes 43 (WI 404-8)

Well at least he's caught this one.

It's a good catch too - Moeen Ali running back towards long off and taking a high chance over his shoulder. Top character to make amends for that earlier dolly.

Woakes finally has a wicket - Holder with a rash hoik after an excellent, entertaining innings to restore his side's control of this Test.
